From Dollars to Sand Dollars to these shiny coins…. Annual Honesty seed pods were not the only money reference we discovered in US.
While we were waiting still in a corner, watching a Stellar’s Jay diligently fly in and out of its nest among the trees and bushes, these incredible seed pods caught our eye. At the time, we had no idea what plant they belonged to, but we couldn’t stop admiring their papery, translucent beauty.
After a little post-hike research, we discovered they are seed pods of Lunaria annua, also known as “Annual Honesty (or the Money Plant)”…. Well if you cannot manage to be honest daily, at least aim for annually, right?
Maybe it is called honest because the translucent walls of the pods are so clear you can see the seeds perfectly hidden inside… leaving nothing to hide!
The plant is native to Europe and parts of Asia, and it was brought to North America by early settlers. Historically, it has been associated with honesty, sincerity, and prosperity due to its coin-like appearance.
It is a different kind of pleasure to observe plants at different stages of their growth… sometimes completely unidentifiable from the previous stage…. Fortunately we got to see many such instances including this one… Mother Nature thank you for keeping us engaged and surprised all the time.

Mosquito breeding ground at Sahar Road Metro Station (Gate Number A1). Water has logged across a massive under-construction area. The presence of dragonflies in the vicinity clearly indicates a heavy concentration of mosquito larvae.

I went to check on some caterpillars in my colony garden…before my eyes could hit them they were already enchanted by this absolute beauty… my hazy phone pictures cannot do justice to the beauty she was… you have to meet them in person.. so keep you eyes and senses open to be flabbergasted on your regular mundane day… Had observed its caterpillars yesterday (spotted by son Prakhar Palash)… So am a bit sure it is a moth called Orvasca subnotata. Please correct me if am wrong. Wiki says “Orvasca subnotata is a nygmiine tussock moth in the family Erebidae, found in Indomalaya and East Asia, where it is known as a pest that feeds on millets. ”

All the humans who judge a hairy leg or hands or body…please try doing it with this fairy like creature… by @seednpods

No matter how overwhelming the inner turmoil or existential crisis that adults carry, children somehow have a way of cutting through it all. They ground you. They bring you back to your senses, back to your responsibilities, and remind you to focus on what needs to be done in the present moment.

It was one of those days after many gloomy ones—days filled with fasting, overthinking, listening to the ordeals of people on the ground, worrying about what was happening back home, and feeling utterly helpless.

Then came a day spent observing and documenting marine life along the Oregon coast, followed by a visit to a little bookstore in rural Oregon. Somewhere between tide pools, curious conversations, shelves of books, and the laughter and excitement of my children, the heaviness began to lift. It became clearer to me that children are our greatest hope. It is our responsibility to give them the space to grow into sensitive, responsible, socially and environmentally conscious, and resilient human beings.

Lichening…ferning….fronding….mossing around… trying to make sense may…be with few beautiful books… and totally working on not loosing my mind seeing all the beauty on this planet… I’m sure we won’t be able to observe and experience even an small percentage of it before we die… but yet submitting to and bowing to Mother Earth in gratitude…For how wonderful she is …each moment….
Observe a leaf…a flower…a tree…please please look around… they are perhaps waiting on a sidewalk…in between the cracks on a road waiting for you to spot them! Thanks @pendharkaranand for guiding us and encouraging us to explore the wonders of this planet. by @seednpods

Shera, a story which instantly takes you to the Devbhoomi… Uttarakhand… and you wonder there is a reason Dev choose to live here…for it is so bio diverse… those grasses, wild flowers, mist, clouds and peace….why won’t god choose it…

Shera is a simple story with so many layers…woven in folklores, true stories, daily lives in mountains, childhood, human wildlife co-existence, tolerance, migration and love…all playing their part while the majestic mountains, valleys and the lush green flora witness all this drama…

Big thanks to @arunfulara for screening this at @kahanitree , interacting with children and signing the Book (based on the movie).
