One final Weekend Wisdom. 💚

This weekend feels different.

After years of sharing her thoughts, experiences, struggles, hope and wisdom with us, this is Gemma’s final Weekend Wisdom for SEED as she, Marg and Den step back and prepare to hand over the baton.

It comes at an incredibly emotional time, with Gemma’s mum Marg currently in hospital and the family focusing on being together and looking after her.

When Gemma took over at SEED, she could never have known exactly what the journey ahead would bring. There have been incredibly difficult moments, but amongst them have been some truly amazing ones too. Most importantly, there have been people helped, families supported, voices heard, and lives touched.

Looking back, that is something to be incredibly proud of.

Gemma also shares her gratitude for every single person who stepped forward when SEED needed them most. Those who gave their time, offered support, shared the message, donated, volunteered or simply stood beside them. Thank you. You have all been part of this journey.

Now, it’s time to hand over the baton.

SEED will be a little quieter for a while as that baton is passed on and Gemma, Marg and Den take the time they need as a family. It’s the beginning of something new, and while new beginnings can feel uncertain, sometimes we have to trust that everything happens for a reason and see where the next chapter takes us.

To everyone who has been part of Gemma, Marg and Den’s journey with SEED: thank you. For believing in them, supporting them and allowing them to be part of your lives.

There really is only one way Gemma could finish her final Weekend Wisdom.

The message she has shared so many times, and one we hope you will continue to carry with you:

Never, ever forget

You matter. 💚 by @seedsupportuk

How do you say goodbye to something that has been such a huge part of your life? 💚

From 1st September, Marg, Den and Gemma will be stepping back from SEED, closing a chapter that has meant more to them and to so many others than words could ever fully capture.

These photographs are just a glimpse of the years gone by. The memories, the laughter, the difficult days, the incredible people they’ve met and the countless moments that have made SEED what it is today.

But behind every photograph are stories that can’t always be seen.

There are the people who reached out when they felt they had nowhere else to turn. The families who needed someone to listen. The conversations that brought hope on the darkest of days. The people who felt heard, understood and less alone because Marg, Den and Gemma were there.

For them, SEED has never been something they did. It has been part of their lives, their family and their hearts for so many years. So, stepping away brings an enormous mix of emotions.

There will never be a way to measure the true impact the three of you have had. It lives on in every person you’ve supported, every family you’ve helped, every conversation you’ve started and every life you’ve touched along the way.

So, from all of us, there are really only two words left to say...

Thank you.

Thank you for your compassion.
Thank you for your courage.
Thank you for showing up, time and time again.
Thank you for giving people hope when they needed it most.
And thank you for everything you have given to SEED and to every person who has needed it.

This may be the end of one chapter, but everything you’ve given will always be part of SEED’s story.

Marg, Den and Gemma, you will be missed more than you know. 💚

And as you have reminded so many others over the years, today we want to remind you...

You matter. Always. by @seedsupportuk

A Monday Morning Message that feels a little different today. 💚

This week, Gemma is stepping in for Marg, who is currently in hospital after breaking her back.

Marg has been having a difficult time with her back for a while, and unfortunately things have now reached the point where she needs to be in hospital receiving the care and support she needs. We know how much Marg means to so many of our SEEDlings, and we’re sure you’ll join us in sending her so much love and wishing her well.

It’s also an incredibly emotional week for Gemma, Marg and Dennis as they prepare to step away from SEED at the end of this week.

After so many years, so many people supported, so many conversations and countless memories, there are understandably a lot of emotions to process. SEED has been such a huge part of their lives, and saying goodbye to something that means so much will never be easy.

Gemma’s message today reminds us that life doesn’t always happen the way we expect. Sometimes everything seems to arrive at once, and in those moments it’s important to lean on the people around you, allow yourself to feel whatever you’re feeling and take things one day at a time.

For now, our thoughts are very much with Marg. 💚

Sending you all our love, Marg. And from all of us in the SEED community, we hope you’re feeling stronger very soon. by @seedsupportuk

It’s going to be okay. 💚

This week’s Weekend Wisdom feels a little different, as Gemma reflects on having just one week left at SEED and shares a message that feels particularly close to her heart right now.

Change can bring so many emotions with it. Excitement for what’s ahead, sadness for what we’re leaving behind, uncertainty about what comes next and sometimes all of those feelings at once.

Gemma shares a quote that feels incredibly real for her at this moment and reminds us all that whatever change, challenge or uncertainty we might be facing, it is going to be okay. by @seedsupportuk

Make the Call

When someone crosses your mind, don’t ignore it. Reach out. You don’t need the perfect words or a solution to what they’re going through. Letting someone know you’re thinking of them can remind them they’re seen, valued and not alone.

Many people hide their struggles behind a smile, waiting for someone to notice. A simple “How are you, really?” could be the conversation that helps them feel supported.

Kindness doesn’t have to be complicated. Often, it’s the smallest gestures that leave the biggest impact.

Don’t wait for the perfect time. Sometimes, the perfect time is now. by @seedsupportuk

The Power of Community

There is something incredibly powerful about knowing someone is beside you. Not to fix everything or have all the answers, but to listen, to understand and to remind you that you’re not alone.

Community isn’t built on perfection. It’s built on kindness, compassion and showing up for one another, especially during life’s most difficult moments.

We all need people who remind us that there is hope, that recovery is possible and that it’s okay to lean on others when things feel overwhelming.

Together, we are stronger than we are alone. by @seedsupportuk

Sometimes, the simplest words mean the most.

In this week’s Monday Morning Message, Marg reminds us not to take the people we love for granted.

Life gets busy, and it can be easy to assume our friends and family already know how much they mean to us. But taking a moment to say thank you, to show appreciation, or to be kind can mean more than we realise.

Kindness costs nothing. Neither does telling someone you love them, checking in, or letting them know you’re grateful to have them in your life.

We never know what tomorrow will bring, so let’s appreciate the people who are beside us today.

Sometimes, life has a way of making us stop and look at things differently. 💚

In this week’s Weekend Wisdom, Gemma reflects on the eclipse and how watching something so incredible made her think about life.

Life is full of change. Difficult moments come and go, brighter moments return, and there is always another chapter waiting to be written.

Whatever today looks like, there is always hope for tomorrow. by @seedsupportuk

Happiness Is for You Too

Happiness isn’t something that has to be earned. It isn’t reserved for other people, and it isn’t something you’re only allowed to feel once everything is perfect.

No matter what you’re facing right now, you deserve moments of joy, laughter, peace and hope. You deserve to celebrate the small wins, to dream about the future and to believe that brighter days are possible.

Recovery isn’t just about overcoming challenges; it’s about rediscovering the life that’s waiting for you beyond them. A life where happiness has a place.

So, if you need a reminder today, here it is: you deserve to be happy. Not someday. Not when you’ve reached a certain point. Today, just as you are. by @seedsupportuk

Sometimes, the kindest thing you can do is give yourself permission. 💚

In a world that often encourages us to keep saying yes, keep pushing through and keep putting others first, it’s important to remember that looking after yourself isn’t selfish; it’s necessary.

Protecting your peace means recognising when you need to slow down, creating space to rest and choosing what is best for your wellbeing without guilt. When you take care of yourself, you’re better equipped to cope with life’s challenges and support the people around you.

You don’t have to earn rest, explain your boundaries or apologise for putting your wellbeing first. Your needs matter too.

Be kind to yourself today. You deserve the same care and compassion that you so often give to others. by @seedsupportuk

You never know how far a little kindness can go.

In this week’s Monday Morning Message, Marg reflects on a moment of kindness she experienced when she needed it most.

Sometimes, it’s the smallest gestures that stay with us. Someone taking the time to listen, offering a helping hand, checking in, or simply showing that they care can completely change how a difficult moment feels.

We never truly know what another person is going through. That’s why kindness matters so much. Something that takes only a moment from you could mean everything to someone else.

And kindness has a wonderful way of travelling. When we experience it ourselves, we’re more likely to pass it on to someone else.

So, Marg’s message for this Monday is simple: choose kindness whenever you can. You may never know just how much it was needed. 💚

Do something kind for someone today, however small it may seem. by @seedsupportuk

You can’t pour all of yourself into everyone else.

In this week’s Weekend Wisdom, Gemma talks openly about people-pleasing and how, throughout her experience with an eating disorder, she often found herself trying to keep everyone else happy.

Always worrying about what others think, saying yes when you want to say no, or putting someone else’s needs before your own can become exhausting. Over time, you can become so focused on making everyone else happy that you lose sight of what you need.

Gemma’s reminder this weekend is that life is too short to live entirely for the expectations of others. Setting boundaries, protecting your energy, and choosing what makes you happy aren’t selfish; they’re looking after yourself.

You won’t always be able to please everyone, and that’s okay.
