🚨 long caption + vague addiction talk alert 🚨

25 years - y’all made it a quarter century ! anybody who’s particularly close to me knows how crazy that is and a few years ago how impossible that seemed. the majority of the 25 years have been a lot of lies and pain and so has most of my life. without any detail , fuck addiction. it’s a killer , a heartbreaker and a soul shredder but as a family we chose light and colour. i’m so incredibly proud of you guys , you are truly the strongest , flyest and most loving people i ever met. you’re both my hero in different ways and while it will forever be a process , y’all remain insanely resilient and determined to make a better life for yourselves and for me and i’m always grateful. on my end (and on the theme of choosing light and colour) , colour is a huge part of my life - my style , my music and every time i smile is an active rebellion against all the darkness i’ve dealt and continue to wrestle with. every day is an conscious effort to be better and not let myself get sucked down the cyclical void of mental bullshit. again no detail but it can be a lot. despite it , i’m really proud of how much i manage to do , the person i’m becoming and that the bullshit doesn’t , for the most part , hold me back from shit like it used to. i love life intensely and i love you two for raisin me right.

the first photo is one i took of them earlier in recovery during a shoot for a story i wrote about the life they’ve lead - i’d like to share it sometime. the next few are some sweet ones from today’s celebration :) by @seeingdjangod
