SEEN: queer anti censorship moving image coalition highlighting self defined/nonconformist works. WE WANT TO SEE THE RISE OF THE CINEMATIC GAYZ
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Instagram has gone so far for us building a word of mouth network of radical, weirdo, art lovers and makers. but its no secret this is a risky platform for any creative person or project that pushes against the status quo. its been on the radar for a long time but as working class, passion fueled operation its pretty hard to find time to flesh things out, but its gotten more serious and we'd hate to lose touch. so here is the solution being worked towards ~~~ take some time to check out our WEBSITE. Bookmark it to check for events if/when you decide to Log out. click on the "CONTACT" tab and fill out the form to be put on our email list for our up and coming NEWSLETTER. This will be a periodic update of recent events and upcoming, and any other focuses of the Moving Image Underground we are able to include. this Site will not only serve as a news source for SEEN events yet to come, but is developing into an archive of all our past events and listings of the world and artists that have been involved. If you visit the "GALLERY" tab you can check out individual events and their descriptions. While still in progress all events from this year have a page up. Please send us any photos you may have! this is a brick by brick operation and there are plans to continue to explore the possibilities of this as a platform where ever image doesnt have to be meticulously chosen, some words modified to bypass filters, and other fun and exciting ways SEEN can become more of a meeting point. in this new chapter of coalition and relationship building the possibilities of SEEN have never been more open and hopefully you can be too. *this site does work best on desktop* **any html gurus who wanna develop this out htl** by @seenmovingimage

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE SEEN ?? ??????? READ OUR MANIFESTO HERE FOR MORE ------ (Images read) we REJECT the standardized SYSTEM of IMAGES the pacification of the marginalized through the notion of REPRESENTATION as path to LIBERATION the EXPLOITATION of makers through PAYWALLS, REGULATIONS, and CONFORMITY and the CENSORSHIP of QUEERNESS and SEXuality we WELCOME the rise of the cinematic GAZE GAYZ through SELF DEFINED spaces we are not MONOLITHS we are not COMPARTMENTALIZED we are not clear cut NARRATIVES we do not have to EXPLAIN ourselves to fit within the LENS of cishet white supremacist patriarchal STRUCTURES nor do we need VALIDATION from them for the ways we choose to DEFINE ourselves we CHALLENGE the passivity of SPECTATORSHIP we have been taught how to VIEW but we ask you to SEE we RECOGNIZE moving image as a new VERNACULAR full of SYMBOLS and CODE, intonations through many LENSES we PROJECT the light of QUEER DISCOVERY so that we may ABSORB the refractions of knowledge from those before us and ILLUMINATE the path for those to come we are not just an EVENT nor are we FETISHES, TOKENS, or SPECTACLES we are a COALITION to build the foundation for THE RISE OF THE CINEMATIC GAZE GAYZ there is so much STRUGGLE and POWER at play in the arena of MEANING by @seenmovingimage

HALLOSEEN IS BACK FROM THE DEAD ⚰️⚰️ have anything you've been dying to submit to us? well, the wait is over.... 🩸🩸 feel free to send us anything that fits within our theme of halloSEEN as long as it hasn't been shown at a prior SEEN screening and it's made by someone who's queer! this open call is for our halloSEEN screening happening in milwaukee on 10/22/26, with the potential of more screening opportunities in the future. this is a PAID opportunity– SEEN is able to pay our artists for this event with the incredible support of The Open Fund. since 2021, every artist who's shown with SEEN has received payment for their work. up until we recieved The Open Fund this year, we were strictly funded through our community and sliding scale donations during our events. as working class artists and programmers ourselves, we're beyond thankful to have the ability to recieve financial support to help us make moving image art accesible to all more details will be announced about what we have planned for halloSEEN 🎃🎃 hope to see you there! by @seenmovingimage
