Happy birthday to my Son ❤️🥰. Had his school admission appointment this morning, instead of taking him back home before I head for an event, decided to take him to come along. Opportunity for him to see what’s up on this side too, I remember taking him and his siblings to work when I was just a dev, product leads, senior engineer and then 2 times Chief Technology Officer. Now, he sees what my founder journey look like. These are priceless impacts, I remember those days pre-year-2000 watching my Dad dismantling typewriters and photocopying machines and yet struggle to pay bills…. Those memories keeps me aggressively hungry for success, problem solving and life strategies in general.. by @segsalerty

#fungist I don’t know how men do it o…. The ones that come out to say they suffered for children to get better this and that. Yes, somehow the universe pressures us as a man/father to align to this selfless habit. But Omo mehn! Once once, I simulate some selfish habits like this, I will eat before you guy, you would even be the ones to do the cooking just to prove a point that, it’s me and my wife first 😂😁😆. Weeks ago, I sent my son to buy a bottle of coke that I felt like I should share and chill with my wife that lovely evening. My daughter cried to bed that night 🤣😁❤️🥰. One thing is constant, #growth ! Be consistent, Retry as much as you can until you are very good at one thing, be open to change, explore, be aggressively agile. Document it, have retrospective self thoughts and conversations with mentors or anyone in your network that obviously is more experienced.

Anyways, wetin dey do everybody different. It’s our birthday month (myself and this young man❤️)
Now my boxers and favorite shirts goes from the laundry to his wardrobe. I no get shoes again, I wear it today, I see it in his legs the next day. Na share share 😂…. Nobody told me I would hit this milestone so quickly! 🤷🏽‍♂️😅😂. 14 years later and the builder engine is still running at 100% speed! 🗓️⏳👣

Looking at the photo on the left from July 24, 2012, rocking my custom-printed “exams4success.com” t-shirt, I was right in the middle of one of the most defining projects of my early tech journey. 😂

I have noticed something about myself over the years: Every 2 to 4 years, my spirit forcibly reminds me of who I am. A builder who thrives on taking zero-to-one friction and turning it into real products.

The stories behind this 2012 era are legendary:

1️⃣ Raising “Angel Funding”: I literally talked my school friends into investing part of their feeding allowance so we could print and distribute exams4success. Talk about high-stakes investor pitch! 💸🌚

2️⃣ The School Pitch Hustle: We carved out CBSS (Computer Based School System) and pushed it to schools. During holidays, I would go to @aliyuudangote ’s house, drag him out of bed, and make him drive us across cities to pitch principals. Result? Deployed to 2 schools in Lagos and 1 in Ibadan! 🚗💨 @araba.nla owns the IB credits 😁

3️⃣ The Customs Desktop App: Built eManifest using Java SE and personally sold it to Nigerian Customs Agents navigating the ASYCUDA++ system back in the day. 👨‍💻📦

The same “no dulling” energy I used to drag people into testing, validating, giving intros, and joining my vision 14 years ago is the exact same energy I run on today as an employer and founder.

The stage got bigger, but the grit stayed the exact same. 💯

Dressed him up fresh, but behind the camera was a less than ₦150k/year 1-room self-contained life. 😂

Around the time this photo was taken 12 years ago, I was:

In my 5th year of university writing final exams + two 100-level carryover courses 🤦‍♂️🌚.

Raising a baby with my wife while she was running a campus hustle(buying and selling 😏 she no like describing her hustle like this 😂) at MediLag : UNILAG.

Figuring out life with zero safety net. I don’t feel alive when there is no pressure cooking around 🌚🏋️🤷🏽‍♂️

We didn’t have time to complain about “friction” We just built through it. Focus, change, execute, leave comfort zone, just move. Life was already winning, wife is orphaned, my papa and mama no get shishi! And I no like to dey do beggi beggi ✌️

If you know me, you know I’m a chat-first guy. I only take a selected few long calls, and I’ve kept my building struggles strictly to private gists.

If you knew me from way back, you probably don’t even need a catch-up of the journey lol. 😂🤦‍♂️

But the truth is, hiding the blueprint doesn’t scale the impact.

From navigating university with plenty of “F” and carryover courses because I was taking science courses for the first time (another long story for later), to paying school fees in installments while navigating the extreme pressure of starting a family in my 200lvl... I enjoyed every bit of the ride. That adrenaline rush is what gets me pumping. 😎 “pressure cooking” 🧑‍🍳😅

Long before AI Agents became a thing, I was actively working 3 remote jobs simultaneously and was still an A-machine shipper. Go and ask about me🏋️🙌🏻🌚😁.

Over the next few weeks, I am taking on the challenge to tell more about what happens behind the scenes. The lessons, the hard pivots, the uncomfortable decisions, and the exact blueprint of how to build yourself from scratch without complaining even when the odds are stacked against you.
