A special moment from the first-ever Zamalek 5K Run. 🏃‍♂️

H.E Gohar Nabil, Minister of Youth and Sports, with Seif Fawzy, Co-Founder & COO of The TriFactory, during a day that brought the Zamalek community together through movement, community, and a shared commitment to supporting the Zamalek Association for Development (ZAD).

@SceneSportsME Ascent Climbing Egypt and The TriFactory, the two biggest names in Egypt’s climbing and mass participation sports scenes respectively, are teaming up again... and this time they’re headed to Sahel.

Following the success of their debut at IL Monte Galala in November 2025, this edition of the Adventure Festival will feature a bouldering competition main event with three participation categories, 18 winners and a total prize pool of EGP 200,000.

SceneSports spoke to Sherif Hafez, Co-founder & CEO of Ascent Climbing Egypt, and Seifeldin Fawzy, Co-founder & COO of The TriFactory, about what participants can expect from the tournament, and about their hopes and visions for Egypt’s climbing scene.

@StartupSceneME: WALK LIKE A BOSS ft. Seifeldin Fawzy, Co-Founder & COO, The TriFactory

It turns out that building a sports and wellness empire in Egypt requires more than just a whistle and a pair of running shoes. In fact, it requires convincing a skeptical public that running 42 kilometers in the heat is actually a good idea. In this episode of the #StartupSceneME series, Walk Like a Boss, Amr Kawashti, co-founder of In Your Shoe, catches up with Seifeldin Fawzy, Co-Founder and COO of The TriFactory, to discuss the proof of concept phase that almost stopped his and his co-founders’ journeys before they’d even begun.

Fawzy admits that his biggest challenge isn’t the logistics of the race, but that ‘first time’ hurdle - a high-stakes mission of convincing new entities and locations that a massive sports event is actually viable. He recounts the early days when people openly mocked the idea, asking who would drive 500km to El Gouna just to run. That skepticism vanished the moment their first event in the North Coast launched with 250 participants, proving that the appetite for organised sports in Egypt was real.

From that moment, staggering growth followed, with The Trifactory’s events moving from a few hundred runners to the Marakez Pyramids Marathon, which saw 10,000 participants competing at once. Fawzy reflects on the weight of managing so many people and how that initial proof of concept paved the way for The TriFactory to become a cornerstone of the regional fitness scene.
