I’m calling it in! 👉🏻This is the final @seikobusters post because I believe this account has run its course and achieved it’s goals. As the years have passed I think it’s been clear that I have developed a special interest in the 60’s and 70’s watches sold throughout Seikos Southeast Asia (SEA) and Oceania distribution zones. This particular passion has only just started so if you also enjoy the SEA deep dive please head over to @aussiepogue which will essentially be a new focused account. To those who have learned from, enjoyed and bickered on this account, I thank you all 🙏🏻. Of course my main account @vintageseiko ain’t going nowhere. To the watch community in general, please remember this account and the principles it stood for.....because I believe they will hold you in good stead in a community full of all sorts. This account has had a lot of hours of info (and opinions) and I hope it will remain accessible for future reference. And so, it is with this post I would like to say thank you 🙏🏻 .....and goodbye 👋🏻 @seikobusters (only Seikobusters 👍🏻) will now walk away🚶‍♂️ safe in the knowledge that the ‘Thong Sia Trio’ will finally (and most definitely) get the recognition they deserve ✊🏻 For me, this particular journey started more than 5 years ago and it is important I say a BIG THANK YOU to all those who have contributed to this 🙏🏻 I won’t name names but you know who you are ✊🏻 Special thanks to @theclockmakerson and @heirloomgallery for providing a fantastic piece of the puzzle and their their extraordinary kindness🙏🏻 .....thanks also to @william_hambuwali for locating some great adverts (featured in book). and of course to the author ✍️ of this wonderfull book 📖 @mrseikosha 🙏🏻👉🏻👉🏻👉🏻Oh ! Hope you have enjoyed the ride 😎👉🏻A recap of some significant finds. Make no mistake, these are documents and watches I have spent years dreaming of finding. Ive had a couple of main goals over the years and the first was to ‘start from scratch’ to understand this awesome ‘region specific’ 6139 6000/1/2. Starting this process it was important to ‘ignore the nickname’ and trace these watches back to their origin, which I can now confidently say was SE Asia, most likely first sold through HKs distributor Tong Cheng Co which was a subsidiary of Thong Sia, SE Asia’s Sole Distributor during the years that these watches were sold. They were sold very early in the history of the 6139 and were most likely some of the first 6139’s to be sold outside Japan (SE Asian readers -you seem to own that award🥇). They were sold through the entire 6139 run in various forms. Moving forward, unfortunately we will all need to confront the issue of authenticity in relation to any ‘Aussie Pogue’ purchase so my second main goal was to describe ‘what is and isn’t’ an Aussie Pogue so that buyers have a ‘base level knowledge’ and can make informed choices when parting with their hard earned money. Let’s face it, these can be faked using all the correct parts. Does this worry me? No, I generally have faith in the community knowing that the majority of buyers and sellers of these models will ‘honour the code’ but I’m not a fool, and nor should you be. #seikoaussiepogue #aussiepogue by @seikobusters
