In her designer statement supplementary to her collection, The Vahanoa, Seini Vaeatangitau of @seini_tries describes the work as “a vast, ineffable ocean; the mercurial water from which all life emerged is black and mysterious. It is both void and vessel, the origin and the unending horizon.”. Tongan cosmology plays a large part in the inspirations that guide Vaeatangitau’s craft, anchoring the spirit of the collection by marrying Western tailoring techniques with indigenous cultural frameworks.

Swipe through for a peek into the mind, behind the scenes, and craftsmanship of the designer behind Kaunanga.
