On Sunday, the PA legislature passed the 2026-2027 budget that Gov Shapiro signed into law - a budget that comes as federal cuts from President Trump and Congress are dismantling lifeline programs like Pennie, SNAP and Medicaid.

This budget deal delays addressing those federal cuts, or the increasing costs of living and chronic underfunding to vital program that that working families across the state rely on.

Legislators left over $500 million in new revenue on the table by not passing the Digital Ad Tax on Big Tech. This tax on corporations like Google and Amazon - the same companies driving data center expansion - had bipartisan support and growing coalition of community and labor backers.

Our work is not finished. The solutions to federal cuts and the growing cost of living exist - tax billionaires, Big Tech and greedy corporations. Next year, as federal cuts get even worse, we'll keep pushing - and demand all lawmakers make a choice: stand up to billionaires and Big Tech or allow families to lose food access, medical care and transit. by @seiu_pa
