Grateful for our community compost crew at @maplestreetgarden (including the 30+ volunteers not pictured) / Despite the budget cuts to so many essential city services (including local compost processing and the master composter course) we’ll be open for drop-off in the spring at a limited capacity. When you find people aligned with your values, keep them close.

Two words: Pocket Tees! Really excited to see how these turn out. I’ll be selling at the @maplestreetgarden Harvest Festival on Oct 21, where I’ve been composting neighborhood food scraps with the compost team for 7 years. Seeing this garden grow as a collectively managed public space has been deeply formative for me, and inspires me to think collectively, locally, and to start small.

Printing some new designs for the Fall. This sweater is 100% cotton, made in the US.
I’m still learning a lot about the fashion industry, but one thing I feel very strongly about is moving with intention over speed. My past experience with ordering from Bonfire led me to believe that the sweaters and hoodies would be 100% cotton; I was disappointed that they were a polyester blend. Taking the time to find a medium that isn’t made with plastic fibers is important to me, and it does raise the cost of these sweaters; but I’m more interested in quality over quantity. Hope you like! 🍁

Winter is a site of rumination. Bitter wind and lost years force my hand and bring new consideration to the cycle of death and life. What happens when death refuses to be philosophical? When your grandparents are all in the Earth, and your soul’s harvester is perched on a tree limb or smelling the flowers or teasing long stalks in the wind. Hands that used to toss me into the air now clutch the railing; the knees’ betrayal. I feel the sponge of wet turf beneath me, sweet smelling bed of eternity where we return to atoms by the trillions. I try to make offerings and time for the dead so that when I am gone, someone may return to do the same. Leave me a token for Charon. Breathe deeply the humid air, and know their precious qualities.
