49 years of sustainable development in Egypt

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

After the amazing SEKEM-Festival in Germany last year, we are thrilled to share more exiciting news with you: the second SEKEM-Festival will happen from October 10 to 12 in Austria!

We will gather in Graz, a place of great significance for SEKEM. Ibrahim Abouleish spent almost 20 years of his life there and took a lot of inspirations for the SEKEM Vision from the intelectual life and surroundings of Graz.

This time, we’re offering a variety of ways to participate, with each day focusing on a different theme. Our goal is not only to share SEKEM’s Vision Goals, but also to create a space for innovation and co-creation. We believe that the future can only be shaped through a synthesis of diverse individual potentials, cultures, and mindsets. Let’s come together to drive change!

Book your tickets now! You will find more details via the link in bio by @sekem_group

We are honored to share that SEKEM and the Egyptian Biodynamic Association (EBDA) are one of the recipients of this year's prestigious Gulbenkian Prize for Humanity! Alongside the other two winners, Andhra Pradesh Community Managed Natural Farming (India) and scientist Rattan Lal (USA/India), we were selected for our pioneering work in advocating biodynamic agriculture and empowering local farmers in Egypt to transition to regenerative practices.
Our delegation led by our CEO, Mr. Helmy Abouleish, with Mr. Justus Harm, Co-executive Director at EBDA and Economy of Love, and Ms. Naglaa Ahmed, Project Manager and Consultant at EBDA, were awarded the prize by former Federal Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, President of the Jury, today at the award ceremony in Lisbon, Portugal.
This prestigious award is a testament to our dedication in scaling biodynamic solutions that benefit local communities, the environment, and the planet. 🌍
Congratulations to our team and all the 2024 Gulbenkian Prize winners!

From the field to verified climate impact. 🌱

A proud milestone for EBDA and most importantly, the 9,355 Egyptian smallholder farmers behind it.

At @cop17mongolia in Ulaanbaatar, ORMEX announced the issuance of Vintage 2025, representing 120,657 independently verified carbon credits generated across 10,468 hectares in 20 Egyptian governorates, including 120,528 removal credits and 129 reduction credits.

These numbers represent years of work on the ground: supporting farmers in their transition toward regenerative, organic and biodynamic agriculture, restoring soil health, and planting more than 820,000 trees in the programme’s first year.

This recognition demonstrates what we have always believed: empowering farmers and healing the land can go hand in hand with measurable climate action.

And this is only the beginning.
Next, we grow the impact.
