This little girl from Kilmichael, MS is turning 70 today!

Happy birthday to my beautiful mommy, Georgia Louise! I thank God EVERY DAY for blessing me with a mom as caring, compassionate, smart, savy, wise, fun and HILARIOUS as she is! If you know her, you can’t help but to love her! She is pure joy! She is also the ultimate super woman who I’m grateful to have had as the ultimate role model.

So if you’ve ever wondered where I get my ambition, my entrepreneurial spirit, my heart for service, my love of sports, my love for people, my competitive nature, my shopping obsession or really any of my other amazing qualities 😉 credit this lady right here. I only hope I can make half the impact she’s made in this world and bring half as much joy!

I am a BLACK woman...I do not tear others down...I build them up. WE are Black women. We have felt the pain of being torn down. We have felt the pain of not being SEEN, and we have felt the pain of not being HEARD. We have decided we will be deliberate about building others up. We too have a VOICE. We too have PURPOSE. We too MATTER.

Since your entrance into this world, you have continued to be an answer to my prayers. I have no idea what I’d do without you!
Even though I’m the older cousin, you’ve definitely become the woman I look to when I need advice, encouragement, inspiration, a laugh (or a debate)....the list is endless because that’s how incredible you are. You are one of the most bold, courageous, brilliant, faithful, loyal and loving people I know, and I’m grateful to have you in my life!

Tomorrow, we're brunching!
Can’t believe the day is almost here! Tomorrow I GET to honor the legacy of two incredible women - my Aunts Tina and Tosy. Their spirits were bright and free and their hearts huge for who they loved and what they believed in.
I'm excited to create that same energy with the women in my world today, WHILE ALSO launching my new foundation, The Shug and Hoss Family Foundation.
From health disparities like #SickleCellAnemia and #Alzheimer’s to education and social justice, the Shug and Hoss Family Foundation will endeavor to advance these causes while carrying on the work of my grandparents and aunts.

So if you want to support the cause and have a great time while doing it, there’s still room at the table!
