POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Motherhood has changed so much about me. Some things I miss. Some things I’m grateful I’ll never get back.

But I never want my children to feel like they owe me for any of it.

They were never a sacrifice. They were part of the life I chose 🤎

Every child gets asked the same question.

“What do you want to be when you grow up?”

It’s funny how we’re taught to answer with a career…
But no one ever asks us what kind of person we want to become.

Somewhere along the way, I stopped chasing a title and started chasing something else.

This reel is my answer 😌

🤎 If you’re building a slower, more intentional life, I’d love to have you here by @selahvalley

I don’t want my children to grow up thinking their mum was always chasing something bigger.

I want them to remember that I was there.

That I chose motherhood. That I chose our home. That I chose to be present for the ordinary days that quietly become their childhood.

The world can call it “just being a mum.”

I know better. There is nothing small about raising children, loving your husband well and building a home where your family can flourish.

I’m not ashamed to want a simple life.
I’m not embarrassed to say that my family is my priority.
And I don’t need to make my life look impressive to know that it matters.

I’m quite happy being “just Mum” 🤎 by @selahvalley

One day, my children will understand how much motherhood changed my life.

But I never want them to feel like they owe me for it 🤍

I chose this life. I chose to become their mum. And I want them to know they were never a burden, never an inconvenience, and never responsible for making my sacrifices worthwhile.

I want my children to grow up knowing a love that doesn’t keep score. A love that lets them grow up free.

I don’t want them to spend their lives repaying me for raising them. I want them to know they were worth choosing 🤍 by @selahvalley

I don’t want to spend my life waiting for things to slow down so I can finally enjoy it.

I want to enjoy it now. Even if that means three kids, a messy kitchen and approximately 400 sprinkles in our pancakes 😂🤍

Sunday morning sprinkle pancakes have become one of our little family traditions, and I hope the kids remember these mornings long after they’ve grown up.

Tell me, what’s a little family tradition you have in your home? I love hearing these things 🤗 by @selahvalley

I think my biggest flaw is that I’m already nostalgic for moments I’m still living 🥺

Sometimes I’ll hold my baby’s little feet, look at their tiny hands, or watch them do something they’ve only just learnt, and suddenly my heart aches knowing they won’t be this little forever.

I want to enjoy this season without wishing it away. But sometimes, loving your children means being painfully aware that you can’t keep them little, no matter how much you want to.

So I’m trying to slow down. To hold them a little longer. To notice the ordinary moments I know I’ll one day wish I could have back.

Because one day, I’ll look back on this life and realise I was living some of the very days I’d give anything to have again 🤎

Tell me I’m not the only mum who feels this way 🥺 by @selahvalley

Alrighty, who’s starting the petition to bring Blockbuster back?! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Because I’m sorry, but scrolling through Netflix for 40 minutes just to watch the same three things is getting a little ridiculous.

We’ve started buying $1 DVDs from the op shop, and honestly, I didn’t expect to love it this much.

a cinderella story. raise your voice. the princess diaries.

Basically, my childhood in a little plastic case 🥹

Fun fact - my first ever job was actually at Blockbuster. So naturally, I’m now passing down the ancient art of choosing a movie, putting a disc in a player and watching it without needing 17 subscriptions.

But the thing I love most? Movie night feels like an actual family activity again. We choose ONE movie, everyone knows that’s the movie, and there’s no endless scrolling or negotiating for another episode.

We’ve been doing this for a week, and there’s something so special about sharing these little pieces of my childhood with my children.

Maybe I’m just nostalgic, but I miss how simple things used to feel sometimes 🤍

Now I need to know…

What DVD would you be buying first if you could walk into Blockbuster again? I think mine will have to be a Cinderella story by @selahvalley

I think one of the hardest parts of motherhood is realising how quickly these little years pass, while we’re busy trying to keep up with everything else.

the housework, the laundry, the endless to do lists. they’ll always be there.

but the little hands asking us to play, the books they want us to read, the stories they’re desperate to tell us… these moments won’t always be here.

I don’t want to get so caught up in building a beautiful life for my children that I forget to be present while they’re living it.

we don’t have to say yes to everything. but sometimes, we can put down what we’re doing, look up and remember that this ordinary little moment might be one we wish we could have back.

they’re only little once, Mumma. And we only get to live this part of motherhood with them once, too 🤎 by @selahvalley

A little feminine outfit inspiration for my girls who love romantic, timeless style 🤎

I love embracing femininity in the everyday, and this dress is such a pretty addition to a feminine wardrobe!

✨ Outfit details
Dress: Nalia Dress by @nola.n.friends
Size worn: Small
Discount code: SHAE10 for 10% off 🫶🏼

A little sizing note - I’m generally a size 10–12, but I usually wear a small in dresses with this shape because I have a smaller bust and find sizing up can leave too much room through the top.

I think this is one of the strangest things about motherhood.

There are days when I’m tired. When my patience is thin. When my body wants rest and my mind wants a moment to myself.

But somehow, my heart always seems to have the final word.

I can be exhausted, but I still want one more cuddle.
I can be desperate for bedtime, but still stand at their door watching them sleep.
I can miss parts of my old life, and still look at this one and think, I wouldn’t trade it.

Because the hard feelings are real.
But so is the love.

And I’ve realised that I don’t have to pretend the hard parts aren’t there to choose which one gets the final say.

My heart gets the final say.
My love always wins 🤍

I’m not usually one to post myself crying on the internet (could this feel any more vulnerable 😅)

But reading through the comments on my last Reel genuinely had an impact on me.

So many women shared their own stories of motherhood. Women who said they’d choose it all again. Women who said their children were never a sacrifice. Women who genuinely love being mothers.

And I think we need more room for that conversation 🤎

We can talk about the hard parts without letting them become the whole story. We can be exhausted, stretched and still deeply grateful for this life.

Thank you for sharing your stories with me. I know I won’t be the only woman who needed to hear them. by @selahvalley
