One thing we’re known for around these parts (aside from Jazz LEGENDS aplenty & horrible sandwiches w/ fries on them (🤣) is RECORD STORES! We have more wrecka stows per capita than a city twice our size. & hidden gems that exist within the nooks & crannies of said shops. I copped a crib back in 2005 just a stones throw from one (@atticrecordstore) & grew up in the Squirrel Hill section of Pittsburgh where another one (@jerrys_records) resides. I even dabbled in the rekkid purveying biz (w/ a little help from my friends) w/ several iterations of our beloved 720 Records (hence my name) that added another shop to the list from 1998-2015. Needless to say, I gotta habit. One would say a completist, if you will. Addict? Ok..there I said it! So a few weeks back, directly after several hours of providing music to the masses on TWITCH, @moeknowsbest met up with me at the abode & we proceeded to embark on a short jaunt across the 40th Street Bridge so he could shadow me on one of these vinyl expeditions. We chatted about iconic DJs that have shopped at the aforementioned Attic & Jerry’s Records after we’ve jointly rocked sets here in the Burgh. Other cities respective shops. & my digging mentor @buscrates, who has been putting me on to gems since the mid 90s. His knowledge reigns supreme. There is a certain cathartic release that comes from spending hours hunkered in a record store. A glorious combo meal of sights, sounds, & dialogue. The jackets pop in full Technicolor. Bringing copious amounts of light to the gloomiest of days. I always feel exponentially better upon returning (box in hand) from a good dig. Perhaps I subconsciously set up residence in the general vicinity of such a shop so I could make an excuse for visiting on the regular, like I did with Moe on this cloudy afternoon in March. & with that said, I have about 20,000 records to alphabetize 😫😫😫 Send help!!! 🤣♥️🤣 📸 @moeknowsbest #recordstore ##digginginthecrates #pittsburghrecordstore #vinyljunkie #vinylcollection #vinylcommunity #vinylrecords #vinylrecord #wreckastow #recordaddict P.S. This shot was captured on the very day of my 50th revolution (☀️), two weeks ago. May 16, 1973-West Penn Hospital-Pittsburgh, PA. Faye Levy (R.I.P.) gave birth to her only son. My party (just a little sumthin-sumthin) followed shortly thereafter & was a MEGABLAST, to say the least. Another roaring round of mucho appreciation to ALL that brought in such a milestone w/ moi. In case you’re wondering ,I’ve taken the last week + to pause all musical pursuits & reflect on my last half-a-century of being. This long overdue downtime proved quite cathartic. Invigorating. Reset button is fully activated. A cache of quality tunes are queued up for your listening pleasure. Versions are primed for polarizing dialogue. T-shirts are creased than a mug (sans starch). 🤣 Miss me?!? I’ll be back on those ‘Breakfast Jammies’ this Wednesday. You know the place. ♥️❤️💜🚀 📸 @emmai_alaquiva #eyesarethewindowtothesoul #aswecontinueon #yesindeed taken in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania by @selecta720

This Is A Journey Into Sound… A proper video encapsulation of said sonic expedition showcasing the vast array of genres that I presented (on wax) in Miami at @danteshifi a few weeks back. The most delightful sounds of @jimettarose, @tallblackguyproductions, @chakakhan, ear dis, @wallenbink, @drugs_beats, @realpeterock @therealclsmooth, @boogalooassassins, @erro44. & that’s just a small sampling of what I ran through in my 2.5 hour set of nothing but sureshots. Have to be quite selective when traveling 1200 miles with an arsenal of only vinyl. 45s under the seat. LPs in the overhead. Boom! ✈️ Thank you (again & again) to the amazing staff @danteshifi. Uncle @richmedina for the proactive reach-out to rock. @oddinhuman & @therealjtdonaldson for being humble & amazing selectors. @dvize for showing me the rotary ropes & holding it down all night. My TWITCH & Pittsburgh famalam for making the trek. @jarobiwhite for making a cameo on the mic & shocking the ish out of me. @moeknowsbest for doing what his name implies behind the camera. The crowd for SUPER vibing with me throughout my many musical zig-zags. That’s the sheer beauty of Dante’s. One can make those sharp turns & not be pigeonholed into a static lane nor BPM. An honor to play such a special room that affords one the freedom to be ones inherent self behind the decks. Soul nourishing. 🙏🏼🙌🏼♥️ #danteshifi #45friday #vinyldj 📸 @moeknowsbest taken in danteshifi by @selecta720

If you need a copy Pittsburgh’s very own Silhouette’s LP “Conversations With The Silhouettes” used by @realpeterock for “#1 Soul Brother, they have a super clean copy for a cool buck at @atticrecordstore. I don’t need a third, so I’ll leave it here for someone else to grab. Can’t board them all:) taken in Attic Record Store Pittsburgh by @selecta720

Honored to have rocked another laboratory raid train for the GREAT @djflash4eva to celebrate the release of his new book ‘Birth Of A Culture.’ Because I always strive to put on a PROGRUM, I took Flash’s playlist from Part 1 of the book (1957-1970) & rocked samples, flips & remixes from the respective selections in order, intersperse with a little visual help from my friends @paradisegray, @rushtown298, @jsandsy, and my brother @melun_dank’s amazing re-creation of “The Adventures…” Had a blast! Thank you @david_c_dennisdj, FLASH, all in attendance & the whole team involved in such a monumentous throwdown. by @selecta720

Happy 53rd born-day shout to the great @erro44 Eric Roberson. Got to chop it up with him for a bit this past weekend at the @pittsburghjazzfest. Super humble cat that has quite the extensive catalog going back to 1994. Y’all remember “The Moon”, right? & fun fact….two Pittsburgh producers did a joint track on his release with @phontigallo ‘Tigallerro.” I’m talking about my brothers @buscrates & @ianwallaceproductions (Extra Medium). My 6-Hour tribute from yesterday’s edition of “Breakfast Jammies” is now up on the cloud of sound for your listening pleasure. 🙌🏼🙏🏻✊🏻 📸 @kaptured.by.kaleo by @selecta720

This medley right here! Mercy! @erro44 traversing through House Music classics (including his very own to set it off). Captured on the streets of Pittsburgh, PA this past weekend at @pittsburghjazzfest. A free music festival right outside of the @augustwilsonculturalcenter that continues to bring it year after year and I’m honored to continue to be a part of it since its inception. Super props to the curator @jburleyw and the entire team. taken in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania by @selecta720

Coltrane 100! Happy (Heavenly) 100th John W. Coltrane. Can you believe we lost him in 1967 at a mere 40 years young?!? We did Five-Hours in his honor on the progrum today. Samples, covers, interpolations & the like from Jose James, Nicholas Payton w/ Butcher Brown, Lakecia Benjamin, & many others. How true is this statement donned upon my tee? by @selecta720
