Lost in Time festival was a great journey! Huge respect to Protoje, his team and all the guest artists! 🌟Had also a great reasoning with Popcaan about skateboarding and snowboarding. Rest in zion Fantan Mojah - great rasta reggae artist! ’Hail The King’ catapulted his strong voice to the reggae scene in 2004 and was followed by countless hits like ’Hungry’, ’Stronger’, ’Thanks & Praise’ and the biggest ’Rasta Got Soul’. He was just 49 years old when his heart couldn’t carry it anymore.Fantan visited and performed in Finland at least two times and I had the honor to select the tracks for his live show 2011 at Vanha Ylioppilastalo. During this stay he also did an interview at Basso. He also visited my Reggae Stomp club then located at Soul B on his free night in town a couple of years after.Sad to hear these news and once again realize how unpredictable and fragile life can be. Fantan Mojah’s name will live through his hits and ’Rasta Got Soul’ has really grown to be an anthem that is both the crowd’s and selector’s favourite. Illan viimeisenä esiintyjänä Laituri Reggae Partyn lavalle nousee Maria Aleksandra sekä Negus Rocketeers Band noin klo 23. Helsingissä asuvalla Marialla on kokemusta niin Haminasta kuin Jamaikaltakin ja hänen settinsä näissä bileissä tulee koostumaan pääosin tunnetuista reggae klassikoista, joihin koko juhlakansan on helppo antautua mukaan vietäväksi. Negus Rocketeersin historia ulottuu bändin johtohahmon René Malmströmin myötä aina suomireggaen 70-lukuun asti. Luvassa upea päätös hienolle illalle! Laituri Reggae Partyn toisena live artistina lavalle nousee noin klo 18 bändinsä kanssa suomalais-meksikolainen Sofia Zida! Tämä jo lapsuudestaan alkaen laulajana esiintynyt taiteilija julkaisi viime syksynä loistavan ’Rakkauden Taa’ one drop reggae -kappaleen, ja ilmeisesti vielä lisää vastaavaa materiaalia on tulossa. Sofia on monille myös TV:stä tuttu ja hän voitti viime syksynä ’Petolliset’ tosi TV -sarjan, minkä lisäksi hän tekee kuvataiteilijan töitä monipuolisesti. Sofia Zidan bändissä kuullaan Suomen parhaita reggae muusikoita, jotka ovat tuttuja myös Jukka Pojan bändistä ja Dub Vallila -yhtyeestä. Come and feel the vibration! Laituri Reggae Partyn pääesiintyjänä on tänä vuonna Jamaikalainen Earl 16, joka aloitti musiikkiuransa 70-luvun puolivälissä, tehden musiikkia alan merkittävimmille tuottajille, kuten Lee ’Scratch’ Perry, Coxsone Dodd, Joe Gibbs ja Augustus Pablo. 80-luvulla pehmeä-ääninen Earl muutti Britanniaan, jolloin yhteistyö alkoi Mad Professorin kanssa ja hän oli mukana myös Leftfieldin ja Dreadzonen hittilevyillä 90-luvulla.Earlin esitys tulee viemään kuulijat aikamatkalle reggaen historian halki ja vetämään yleisön magneetin lailla musiikin pyörteisiin. Taustalla kuullaan tamperelaista Freedom Farmers bändiä, jota on kuultu Laituri Reggae Partyissa aiemminkin jamaikalaisten Zamundan ja Bamboo Kallumin taustoissa. Bändissä vaikuttaa Poorman Dub Soundin jäseniä, jonka kanssa Earl 16 on myös julkaissut musiikkia viime vuosina ja uusin kappale ’Spiritual Connection’ julkaistiin vastikään toukokuussa.Tätä legendaarista keikkaa et halua missata! Tämän lauantain Laituri Reggae Partyt Kotkassa käynnistyvät klo 12 DJ Joe Chapan selektioilla ja ensimmäinen live keikka alkaa noin klo 15.30. Tällöin lavalle nousee Josei & Benji bändinsä kanssa kanssa. Benji muutti Suomeen Jamaikalta 2000-luvun alussa ja Josei on hänen poikansa, joka on nyt siis jamaikalais-suomalainen artisti, josta varmasti tulee vielä maassamme laajemminkin tunnettu. Luvassa on monipuolinen ja sielukas setti, jota ei kannata missata! by @selectaandor
