Do flu shots work?

The quick answer is yes. Flu shots work most of the time, which is why health experts recommend an annual flu vaccine for most people ages 6 months and older.

✅ Can help reduce the severity of illness
✅ May lead to milder symptoms
✅ Symptoms may not last as long
✅ May lower the likelihood of needing hospital care

Experts work each year to match the flu vaccine to the strains most likely to circulate.

Even in years when the match is not perfect, the flu shot is still one of the best ways to help prevent the flu. by @selecthealth

Choosing a health insurance plan starts with understanding how different plan categories work.

🥉 Bronze plans generally have the highest deductibles and lower monthly premiums. The plan usually pays 60% of covered services and you pay 40%. Bronze plans may be eligible for a Health Savings Account (HSA).

🥈 Silver plans often have a moderate deductible. Usually, the insurer pays 70% of covered service costs and you'll pay 30%. Some people may qualify for additional savings through certain Silver plans.

🥇 Gold plans usually have lower deductibles but higher monthly premiums. The plan is generally responsible for 80% of covered service costs and you are responsible for the remaining 20%.

💎 Platinum plans typically have the lowest deductibles and the highest premiums. The insurer will generally cover 90% of covered service costs and you pay 10%.

Fall prevention starts with awareness. As we get older, our risk of falling may increase, and these falls can lead to injury, immobility, depression, and declining health.

Simple ways to reduce your risk:

1️⃣ Keep walkways clear
2️⃣ Use hand railings
3️⃣ Wear shoes with non-slip soles

It's also important to talk with your doctor about your specific fall risk. Together, you can create a prevention plan and be prepared if a fall happens. by @selecthealth
