What people tell us they find ridiculously attractive…

Quiet confidence.
Not being the loudest person in the room — being comfortable enough not to have to be.

Being present.
There’s a difference between hearing someone and actually listening. When you’re present, you notice more. You give the other person space to relax, open up and be themselves.

Thoughtful questions.
Not firing off questions like an interview, but actually following the conversation. It shows you’re interested in them, not just waiting for your turn to talk.

Not rushing.
A pause. A little silence. Eye contact. Letting a moment linger.

In a world that moves at lightning speed, slowing down can be incredibly sexy. It signals that you’re grounded, centred and comfortable in the moment.

And then there’s the build-up…

A little flirting. A subtle change in body language. A gradual, natural progression of physical touch.

Chemistry doesn’t have to be rushed to be felt.

Sometimes the most attractive thing you can do on a date is simply be there — fully.

And yes… talking less can be very sexy too. 😉

What if dating isn’t only showing you who’s out there...
What if it’s also showing you what you believe?

If you believe good people are hard to find, you’ll notice every disappointment.

If you believe relationships always become complicated, you’ll expect complications.

If you believe you have to convince someone to choose you, you may overlook the people who already do.

Our beliefs quietly shape what we notice, pursue, trust, and accept.

Life has a way of reflecting those beliefs back to us—not because it’s personal, but because our perspective influences our experience.

Sometimes the biggest shift in dating isn’t finding someone new.

It’s seeing love through a new lens.

What’s one belief about dating you’ve had to challenge?

Most of us aren’t responding to what’s actually happening in front of us.

We’re responding to a lifetime of learned experiences.

Past relationships, family dynamics, disappointments, successes, heartbreaks, and even the stories we’ve told ourselves along the way all shape how we see people and relationships.

The challenge?

The person sitting across from you on a first date is not the sum of your experiences.

They’re their own person.

Sometimes great connections are missed because we’re reacting to our past instead of being present with what’s actually in front of us.

One of the most valuable dating skills isn’t finding the perfect person—it’s learning to see people for who they are, not who your past has taught you to expect.

Have you ever realized you were making assumptions about someone that had more to do with your past than with them?

One small shift to try on your next date...

Instead of asking yourself:

“Do they like me?”

Ask yourself:

“How do I feel around them?”

Do you feel relaxed?

Comfortable?

Curious?

Like you can be yourself?

Many singles spend the entire date trying to be chosen.

What if your job wasn’t to impress someone...

What if it was simply to discover whether you genuinely enjoy their company?

Sometimes the quality of our relationships begins with the quality of our awareness.

One of the most common relationship mistakes isn’t a lack of care.

It’s assuming that what works for us will work for someone else.

We’ve been taught to treat others the way we would like to be treated. While that’s a good place to start, strong relationships often require something more.

Treating people the way they would like to be treated.

What feels supportive to one person may feel overwhelming to another. What feels motivating to one person may feel critical to someone else. Some people appreciate directness and tough love. Others need patience, encouragement, and reassurance.

The challenge is that we often view people through our own lens rather than seeing them for who they actually are.

Whether in dating, marriage, friendships, family, or business, deeper connection begins when we become curious enough to understand another person’s needs, communication style, and experience of the world.

Being understood feels good.

Being truly seen is even better.

One of the most beautiful things about dating is that you never truly know how a connection will unfold.

A few years ago, we introduced two clients. While there wasn’t a romantic spark, there was genuine respect, shared values, and an easy connection. They stayed in touch as friends and occasionally connected professionally.

Through that friendship, she was later introduced to one of his colleagues.

Today, they’re married.

And we’ve seen similar stories more than once.

When you’re dating with intention, every introduction has value. Not because every date will become a relationship, but because every meaningful connection has the potential to enrich your life in ways you may never expect.

This is one of the reasons we place such importance on character, lifestyle compatibility, relationship goals, and overall alignment. When you’re meeting quality individuals who share similar values and intentions, you’re entering a network of possibility—not just a single date.

Stay open. Stay authentic. Trust the process.

The right connection doesn’t always arrive in the way you imagined.

Sometimes, life has an even better plan. ❤️

The quality of our relationships is often determined by the quality of our conversations. ❤️

In a world full of notifications, endless scrolling, busy schedules and constant distractions, one of the greatest gifts we can offer another person is our presence.

Not advice.

Not a solution.

Simply our attention.

At Select, we’ve seen time and time again that meaningful connection isn’t built through grand gestures. It’s built through everyday moments of conscious communication.

Taking the time to truly listen.

Being curious rather than making assumptions.

Putting down the phone.

Making eye contact.

Creating space for another person to feel seen, heard and understood.

When we slow down enough to be fully present with someone, something powerful happens: connection deepens.

In dating and relationships, we often focus on chemistry, compatibility and shared goals. Yet one of the strongest foundations for lasting love is the ability to communicate with care, intention and presence.

Because in the end, what most of us are really looking for is someone who makes us feel seen.

The happiest couples we meet aren’t always the ones with the biggest plans. ❤️

When dating, it’s easy to become focused on the future:

✨ Where do they want to live?
✨ How many children do they want?
✨ What’s their five-year plan?

Those conversations matter.

But what matters just as much is who they are today.

How do they spend their evenings?

What do they enjoy doing on a Saturday?

How do they treat people?

What does their everyday life actually look like?

Recently, we were speaking with a couple who were excited to discover they both loved the same simple thing: cooking a nice meal at home and curling up to watch a movie together.

Some people would find that boring.

For them, it was perfect.

At Select, we’ve found that lasting compatibility often comes from alignment in the small, everyday moments—not just shared future goals.

Pay attention to patterns, habits, values, and how someone is living right now.

Potential can be inspiring.

Reality is what you’ll be sharing your life with.

Can we bring back COURTING? 💋

Planning the date.
Putting your phone away.
Actually asking questions.
A little flirting.
A little anticipation.
Making someone feel chosen.

Not everything has to be instant.

Call us old-fashioned, but we think intentional dating is pretty sexy. 😉

One thing we’ve learned after years of matchmaking...

The people who find lasting relationships aren’t always the most attractive.

They aren’t always the most accomplished.

They aren’t always the most charismatic.

More often than not, they’re the people who are genuinely open.

Open to meeting someone new.

Open to being pleasantly surprised.

Open to looking beyond a checklist.

Because real connection rarely arrives in exactly the package we imagined.

And sometimes the relationship you’ve been hoping for begins with a conversation you almost didn’t have.

❤️

Have you ever been surprised by a connection that wasn’t what you expected?

One of the most interesting things we’ve learned from years of matchmaking?

The person who is right for you doesn’t always look like the person you imagined.

Sometimes the strongest connection comes from someone you may not have initially chosen for yourself — but who aligns with your values, lifestyle, energy and relationship goals in ways you didn’t expect.

Stay clear on what matters. Stay open to how it arrives.

We love what we do. But days like this are pretty special. 💍🥂

Lately, we’ve had the joy of celebrating several Select couples who have taken their relationship to the next chapter—and we couldn’t be happier for them.

There’s something pretty incredible about knowing that two people who may never have crossed paths on their own were introduced through Select...

and now they’re planning a life together. ❤️

It’s one of the reasons we love matchmaking.

Not because we’re simply introducing two people.

Because we’re creating the opportunity for something that can change two people’s lives.

To all of our Select couples who have found their way to one another:

We are so happy for you and honoured to have played a small part in your story. 🥂

Here’s to love, partnership, and all the beautiful beginnings still to come. ✨
