Everyone talks about nesting for your baby physically… but what about spiritually?

As I’ve been preparing for this baby, I’ve been thinking about what it looks like to prepare my home and heart spiritually too. Here are some things I have focused on as we get ready for our new little one:

Romanticize the preparation with Jesus. Invite Him into every detail. The purchases, the tiny laundry. Slow down enough to realize what you’re actually preparing for: a life God created and entrusted to you. Thank Him while you fold. Talk to Him while you prepare. Let Him be a part of it all.

Cultivate an atmosphere of worship. Put worship music on in your home. Pray throughout your day. Welcome the Holy Spirit into the place your baby will call home. I don’t just want my house ready for this baby, I want His presence here.

Expose the lies of the enemy before postpartum. Learn what happens to your body and emotions after birth so you can recognize a feeling without immediately accepting it as truth. Prepare now to stay anchored in what God says, especially on the days when your emotions are loud.

Pray beyond a healthy pregnancy and safe delivery. There is an entire person in there whose story has already begun. Pray over who God created your baby to be and their relationship with Jesus. Begin interceding for their life before you ever see their face. Ask the Lord to show you their purpose and their calling. He answers 🤍

Prepare your family spiritually for the transition. Pray together about the baby. Pour into your marriage and your children. Ask the Lord to show you anything in your home or heart that needs attention before this new season begins.

We spend months nesting the space our babies will come home to.

When Zion stepped onto the field at practice, he started crying. He was looking for his dad. He didn’t need him to fix anything, say anything, or even do anything… he just wanted him there.

Dad got there, went onto the field, and everything changed. 🥹 He lit up, started playing, and suddenly he was okay. There’s something so powerful about a dad who simply shows up. Sometimes your presence is the greatest thing you can give your children. 🤍 by @selesteradcliffe

Im 30 ✨ (& 35 weeks) This is my favorite worship song! Such a beautiful reminder of the Jesus I serve, how magnificent, and BIG He is. All glory to Jesus for 30 years of life. For saving me. For a marriage to the man of my dreams. For children who bless me every single day. For every blessing, every answered prayer, every season, every part of my life, it all belongs to Him!

Thank you to everyone who reached out, wished me a happy birthday, sent gifts, or made me feel loved today. To be seen and remembered by so many loving people means more than you know. 🤍

Zion said, “Daddy! I have an idea. Why don’t we go get wet in the rain?!”

Zee didn’t hesitate. Watching my babies grow up with my husband as their father is more than I could have ever dreamed success would feel like. He’s the kind of dad that I can’t wait all year for Father’s Day to post about. He lives out every word in the books he writes, the sermons he preaches. Such a man of God. Happy birthday to my handsome man of God. Thank you for being righteous. Thank you for always being true to your word, for leading our family with integrity, and for loving me so beautifully, the way Christ loves the church. Your strength is matched by your gentleness, you choose to grow in wisdom, I’m grateful for that. You are so kind to me.

You make me feel safe. You remind me every day what God’s design for marriage can look like. Growing with you is a dream come true.

I pray this next year is filled with God’s favor and every blessing He has in store for you. I will always be your biggest supporter, your best friend, and the woman who thanks God every day that she gets to call you her husband.

True wealth! Came home to my wife and kids surprising me with cake and the house decorated. I’m so blessed that the woman who filmed this video @selesteradcliffe has been by my side since we were 16 and this was just a dream. Share your gift!! Don’t bury your talent!!
