Had an amazing time on 7/2 as part of Electric Sol. It was like 104F that night and props to everyone who endured the heat. As a DJ, the atmosphere gave provided space to play some pretty interesting tracks.

Made a bunch of new friends a huge shout out to @zeev.ms for hooking up the footage.

Been very happy to pull back on DJing since then … but I’m still practicing by learning hardware based production and getting better every day

Techno 1/31 at @wowphilly followed by an epic after hours featuring face-to-face dj sets in the main room with yours truly playing some epic progressive in the side room this time.

Uploading a jam here fully not expecting anyone to watch it. It’s a long ass two videos. I’m mostly just uploading this for myself.
Some of the audio nuances get lost in the mic. Gotta figure out a cleaner way to record.

I didn’t even know how to use this thing two months ago and have been carrying it everywhere I go. It feels nice to make progress and be proud of yourself even when you aren’t where you want to be! I can be a really harsh critic on myself, so putting out something so amateur is a first step at practicing self acceptance; saying “I made this” and put it out there is a big first step. I’m going to try to keep posting so that I don’t feel any shame towards my projects when they become truly good over.
My mom also follows me on here and is probably gonna be like “what the heck kind of music is this” lol

I’m going skiing in Val Thorens (Les 3 Vallées), France this January and figured I might as well take a shot at playing an après-ski while there.

I’ve been working on music pretty much every day after work for the last 3 years and it feels appropriate to start reaching out to places now. Figuring out my identity was the hardest part and still a work in progress. I’m planning to send a professional email + press kit to around 15 venues and see what happens.

I picked most of the tracks to show them I can handle a lot of different moods and cohesively tell a story. I worked out the order on the fly while recording, and this came out WAY better than I imagined it would (some hiccups, but only wanted to record once rather than be totally perfect). Prepare yourself for a journey!

Give it a listen, and if you have a SoundCloud account, any support on the mix would mean a lot.

Touched dj equipment for the first time since electric sol on 7/2.
Ive been a little burnt out and tired - and didn’t even realize it. Taking time off to learn production has been so good. I think I was hitting a creative ceiling. DJing - and - doing just that - is so limiting.

THERE’S GOOD NEWS

@raindropdiaz and I were practicing for our upcoming deep house/techno party DownLoad this 8/14 at Broad Hall and something really special happened. Since I’ve only been focusing on production, I was worried that my DJ skills were going to degrade. Could I still match three tracks up? Would I still be as keen or would I just lazily apply the same principles to each transition?

It turns out all this practice with the digitakt has made me even better!! I hear music differently, and have a greater sense for what’s really going on when using resonance on a filter. intentionally setting offbeat loops is also more apparent. The creative approach, patience, and intention have all gained a matured perspective.

Really grateful for my teacher and friend @big.things.coming1 for all of his support, loaning his digitakt, and recommending the @davemechlive course. Which has been really educational in philosophy as well as hands on skills. There are some concepts things Dorian and I had discussed months ago but couldn’t fully understand that are making a lot more sense now…
