Being a mother to Josiah, Johlil, Ava, Aden, and Butch has been the greatest blessing of my life. ❤️ I’m also grateful for my BONUS children.

If there’s one thing life has taught me, especially this year, it’s that tomorrow is not promised. I’ve experienced loss, heartbreak, separation, and moments that have completely changed the way I look at life.

Losing people I love has made me think about the memories we leave behind and the things we wish we had said while we still had the chance.

My children have seen me fight battles I never imagined I would face. They’ve seen me start over, fall apart, get back up, and keep going. And through it all, I hope they remember more than what their mother went through. I hope they remember how much their mother loved them.

I don’t need my children to grow up and spend their lives trying to make me proud. I’m already proud of them. I don’t need them to be rich, successful by society’s standards, or have everything figured out.

I just want them to LIVE. Really live.

Fall in love. Laugh until your stomach hurts. Travel. Make mistakes. Find God for yourselves. Set boundaries. Walk away when something no longer serves you. Take the pictures. Make the memories. Love people while they’re here.

And most importantly, don’t let the hard things that happen to you convince you that life can’t still be beautiful.

I’ve spent so much of my life fighting to give my children a better one. My prayer is that they never forget to actually enjoy the life they’re given.

No matter how old they get, where life takes them, or what tomorrow brings, they’ll always have a mother who loves them beyond words.

And if there’s ever a day they have to navigate this world without me, I hope they hear my voice reminding them:

Baby, keep going. Keep living. Keep becoming. God isn’t finished with your story. And your mama has ALWAYS been proud of you. ❤️
