What’s better than one degree? Twooo!
Or whatever THE CARTERS said.

Man, it’s been a crazy journey to this finish line. Putting the work in for my Masters had me feeling nostalgic. Lessons learned and bonds formed during undergrad at FAMU are ever-present in the moves I make to date.

The experiences accompanied me into adulthood and enhanced my level of professionalism. Florida A&M and the School of Business and Industry will forever receive praise for its impact on my life 🧡💚.

So, with my MPA graduation photoshoot I thought to rewear my undergrad graduation getup. In addition to further growth as a person my body’s a lil swole compared to 2016 😂.

Retiring the suit and retiring these courses!

Today makes five years since I tested positive for HIV. Knowingly living with the virus was rough in the beginning, but with the time that’s progressed I now hardly ever think about it or the associated stigma.
As I reflect on this day in 2020 my mind wanders into what future months of it will mark. August will make four years since I earned my B.S. in Business Administration from Florida A&M University. It’ll also be when I embark on the journey to obtain my Master of Public Administration from Georgia State University.
My transition to Atlanta, Georgia occurred two weeks after graduation in 2016, and October of this year will be my fourth workversary with the Internal Revenue Service. Having started my first full-time position with the federal government, I’ve to date successfully navigated through two positions in three departments.
I received my graduate school acceptance letter on the 1st of this month and purchased another car on the 7th. Next Wednesday I’ll be turning 27 and am sure to receive much love from friends and family. I have the means to take care of myself and my health is superb.
So today, instead of feeling depressed or angry, I feel blessed and ready to conquer more feats in life. Today I remind myself of how far I’ve come and intend to further go. I share this message in hopes of reaching anyone down and out about a positive status. This photo was taken during my first graduation photo shoot and years later I am just as unashamed of my truth. taken in Famu Student Health Sevices by @selfmadeyb
