I designed this dress when I was pregnant, feeling hopeful but exhausted. I loved my pregnant body, but also felt uncomfortable in most clothes and refused to purchase maternity wear. Postpartum was a struggle to understand my new body, how it feels no longer mine and just a food vessel for my baby, and wondering when I would feel my individual sense of style again.

This period is where I envisioned some design concepts to celebrate women and their ever evolving bodies. As women, mothers, pup-mothers, aunties, and sisters we all deserve moments to feel special in our own skin. Whether we’re attending a graduation, engagement celebration, release party, or just a Tuesday night out— this dress does it all. One weekend, I danced the night away at my friend’s wedding in the CIELO color, and the next day I celebrated my son’s 1st birthday party (still breastfeeding) in the AMARILLO color.

I felt so special wearing the Bendita Dress and was excited to share this feeling with anyone else going through significant life events. While I was wearing this dress—breezing through the chilly Los Angeles Summer evenings—I thought, “This dress is what the women in my life deserve.”
