malaysian meets authentic hk classics 🇲🇾🇭🇰

📍 @oldtown97sk south kensington

such a cute spot with a lovely interior and the service was so good 🥹✨

we tried:

🍗 golden salted egg yolk chicken wings £14.80
🍳 crispy chicken silky scrambled egg rice £14.80
🥩 malaysian curry beef brisket £18.80
🍤 shacha king prawn & sakura prawn vermicelli £14.80
🧋 hong kong iced milk tea £4.80
🥛 iced grass jelly soya milk £5.50

the crispy chicken silky scrambled egg rice is an ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE 🤤 the silky scrambled egg with the crispy chicken was sooo good

the malaysian curry beef brisket was also really yum, especially paired with the noodles 😮‍💨

i know their roast duck is a must have but we wanted to try dishes we’ve never really had before 😋

definitely one to add to your south kensington food list x

THE YUMMIEST BROWN SUGAR BOBA 🧋🤎
📍 xing fu tang, frith st @xingfutang.uk

genuinely the best brown sugar bubble tea i’ve had in ages 🤤

i won’t lie, it’s been a while since i’ve been to xing fu tang and i can’t believe i’ve left it this long 😭

we got the:

🤎 signature brown sugar boba milk
☕️ brown sugar boba milk w/ dalgona coffee

both were SO yummy 😭 the boba was perfect, not too chewy, not too soft, just the perfect texture 🤌🏼

xing fu tang originally comes from taiwan 🇹🇼 and has 5 stores across the uk!

if you’re a boba lover, this one 1000% needs to be on your list 🧋👀 don’t forget to collect your fortune when you visit! 🔮

yemeni food on edgware road 👀🇾🇪

we were invited to @diwan.alyemen to try some of their dishes and this was honestly such a good introduction to yemeni food 🤤

we tried:

🥣 lamb broth soup
🥣 lentil soup
🍅 tomato sahawiq
🧀 sahawiq with cheese - SO addicting 😭
🥒 cucumber & mint yoghurt
🍊 orange juice
🍋 lemon & mint juice (both juices felt so fresh!!)
🍲 okra stew - my mum’s faveee
🥩 fahsah - shredded lamb stew (very yum, reminds me of turkish kavurma)
🍗 chicken mandi
🍖 lamb haneeth - my faveee 🤤 slow cooked & tender
🍌 fatah mooz - banana, honey & bread (i genuinely had the whole thing to myself…)

everything was sooo flavourful, but the lamb haneeth was defo my favourite. the lamb was sooo soft and the rice was packed with flavour 🤌🏼

and what better way to end this meal than w desserttt 😋 the fatah mooz was SO good and i genuinely did not share with anyone 😂

if you’re around edgware road and looking for somewhere to try yemeni food in london, definitely add diwan el yemen to your listtt ☺️

plenty of seating & private rooms - perfect for small gatherings ☺️ as well as lovely service! portions are HUGE so you are defo getting your money’s worth

🍉 a refreshing drink spot in london you need to know abouttt 🍇

📍 @wuxiantea , shaftesbury ave

we were craving something refreshing that day so we had to try wuxian tea 🌸🧋 they do handcrafted oriental floral teas with sooo many unique flavours and toppings!

🍉 watermelon iced tea - literally tasted like watermelon in a cup 😭 sooo fresh, light and not overly sweet at alllll. exactly what we needed!

🍇 grape fruit tea - sooo refreshinggg and it kinda reminded me of grape soda but without being super sweet… just the right amount 🤌🏼

they have loads of other drinks to try too and next time i defo need to get their tofu pudding milk tea 👀 apparently it’s one of their signatures!!

if you’re around soho/chinatown and want something a bit different from your usual bubble tea, defo save thissss 📌

🥗 healthy mediterranean spot in london 🥙

📍 @grain_mediterranean Holborn

a healthy food spot that’s actually open till late 👀

both the Aegean Power Bowl & my “build your own bowl” were SO yummy, fresh, healthy and filling! 🥗✨

the portions are generous tooo, I ended up taking half of mine home for later so definitely feel like you’re getting your money’s worth 🙌

the wedges were sooo well seasoned 🤌🏼 defo get a dip on the side for them!

they have plenty of seating & serve matcha, so it would also be a cute spot to do some remote working 💻

and if you’re looking for a good-value dinner option, their dinner meal deal from 3pm is only £9.95 and includes:
🥗 a healthy bowl OR sourdough pita
🍟 wedges
🥤 canned drink

opening hours:
mon to thurs: until 8pm
fri: until 4pm
sat: until 5pm

if you’re looking for yummy vietnamese food in london, add Viet Food in chinatown to your list 🇻🇳✨

i took two friends for their first time trying vietnamese food and they absolutely loved itt!

what we ordered:
🌿 green stuff juice (£4.90)
🥭 wow wow juice x2 (£4.90 each)
🥩 grilled chilli sirloin beef salsa with fresh herbs (£13.50)
🦐 traditional rice paper summer rolls with prawns (£9.80)
🍃 grilled betel leaf wrapped beef & prawns (£9.50)
🦑 sautéed scallop & squid with pineapple in sea salt & lemongrass olive oil (£18)
🍚 sirloin beef egg fried rice with lettuce & spring onion (£10)

our total came to around £83 for 3 people which we thought was great value considering how much food we had. there was plenty of seating, the service was really quick, and we left feeling super full 😋

i took two friends for their first time trying vietnamese food and they absolutely loved it 🥹

we ordered a mix of fresh starters, seafood, grilled meats and rice, and left completely stuffed!!

what we ordered:

if you’re looking for a modern Chinese restaurant in London, definitely add this one to your list!!

they put such a fun modern twist on classic Chinese dishes and everything we tried was so goooood

100% recommend trying their signature Golden Roe Chilli Crab noodles (we got the wide flat noodles 🤌) and the Mushroom Shengjian Bao… both were sooo delish

the Yuzu Pear Mocktail was also super refreshing and the perfect balance of sweet 🍐✨

service was lovely, there’s air conditioning (a lifesaver rn 😭) and plenty of seating so it’s a great spot whether you’re catching up with friends or planning a dinner date

Build your own mini hot pot? 👀

📍 Zhangliang Malatang @zhangliangmalatang_london
(Shaftesbury Avenue)

You build your own bowl by picking exactly what you want, it’s weighed (£3.48 per 100g), then cooked in your choice of broth ✨

My recommendations:
🥩 Classic Mala Beef Bone Soupbase (mild) - rich, savoury and SO flavourful (I did also ask for them to go extra mild for me and they delivered!!)
🍅 Tomato Soupbase - Comforting, slightly tangy and one liked by many!

We may have gone slightly overboard with the ingredients 😂 We ended up paying £83 for 3 people including drinks, and I genuinely struggled to finish my bowl 🫠

There’s plenty of seating, so it’s a great spot for lunch or dinner with friends.

The only thing I’d flag is that the tongs are not per ingredient, so the same tongs are used between meats, seafood and vegetables. If you have dietary restrictions or allergies, it’s something to be aware of as there could be a risk of cross-contamination. Personally, I think having separate tongs for each ingredient would be a bit more hygienic, but that’s just my opinion! 🙆‍♀️

Overall thoughhhh I’d definitely recommend it, especially if you’re trying malatang for the first time or you’re already obsessed 🍜✨

I know… hot pot during a heatwave sounds questionable 😂 but hear me out (especially because this spot is open till 3am most nights! 👀)

🍅 Tomato broth - this one was defo our favourite! So flavourful and perfect if you don’t love spicy food.

🌶️ Beef tallow (mild) - even though it was “mild” it definitely had more of a kick than I was expecting 😅 (though i am not that good with spice)

The real winners though (ESPECIALLY IN THIS HEATWAVE!!) 💜🍓:

The Taro Snow Mountain Shaved Ice and Strawberry Bingsoo 😍 they were the PERFECT way to cool down afterwards and honestly felt like lifesavers in this weather ❄️ Sweet BUT not too sweet 😋

Definitely don’t skip dessert if you visit 👏
