I would like to officially announce that I am the new bass player for my all time favorite band, mighty Nevermore. When first hearing the news my heart stopped and it couldn’t be real. I will work to the best of my abilities and beyond to stand alongside with machinery groove master legend Van Williams and my favorite and the best guitar player of all time, almighty Jeff Loomis. Also beside a young, hungry, and insanely talented Jack Cattio on guitars
Our band melodies and songwriting will be bombastic. Lastly… I can’t put enough pride with saying this mcountryman kardesim Berzan Onen is the new singer for Nevermore. His talent, personality and kindness is untouchable and I can’t express how excited and proud I am. I said this before; once you open your eyes there are talents in every part of the world.

Our first show together will be in a city that holds my heart in its hand and my home. Istanbul, Turkey April 1st If Beşiktaş. It will be the most emotional show of my life.

I would like to end it with lyrics from my favorite lyricist and Immortal legend Warrel Dane “Nevermore to feel the pain
The heart collector sang
And I won’t be feeling hollow for so long. “ Now it’s time for Nevermore to take over the world…..once more.

We are thrilled to announce that Nevermore has officially signed with Reigning Phoenix Music! It was obvious from the start that they were the perfect partner for the new era of Nevermore. Their passion for metal music combined with the extensive industry pedigree of their team made the choice easy. We can’t wait to get back on stage in front of our fans in Istanbul on April 1st, and we are just as excited to finish writing and putting together the new Nevermore album!

A few words from @reigningphoenixmusicofficial Co-Founder Gerardo Martinez: “There are no words to describe how proud and excited RPM is at the prospect of being part of Nevermore’s next chapter. Having been a fan since 1995 when I saw them on tour with Death, I’ve followed them on their entire musical journey and cannot wait for what is yet to come!”

A lot of people have asked me over the past couple of months on tour: “Why don’t you use a pick anymore?”

For years, especially while playing in death, thrash, prog and other heavy bands, I relied heavily on the pick. It wasn’t just about technique at that point in my life, I was working constantly, trying to make enough money to have a place to stay and simply keep moving forward. I didn’t have the luxury of endless hours to sit down and work through the pain and conditioning that comes with developing serious fingerstyle technique.

The pick gave me the speed, consistency and endurance I needed to survive those years of playing.

But over the last couple of years, I started putting much more focus into my fingers. I wanted to explore the bass as a more rhythmic instrument, and honestly, it made me fall in love with this damn thing all over again.

Nothing against the pick if the song calls for it, use it. The goal is always to serve the song and use whatever technique gives you the right dynamics.

But don’t neglect your fingers. There’s a whole different world of dynamics, groove and expression waiting there.

At the end of the day, it’s always about the song. And always remember the groove. #bass #bassist #thumb #warwick taken in Texas by @semirozerkan

Doing some interesting fun recording with my buddy @jakewayman_ again, more into proggy side! Little bass shenanigans in the middle of the song! Also tried the new Endless bass plugin from mighty @tobypeterson ! It slaps! #bass #solo #harmonic #warwick taken in Texas by @semirozerkan

One cool little trick I learned many moons ago for getting fast lines really tight in the death metal world 🤘( Btw I only recently learned that it’s called Raking, I just called it Myung technique for 2 decades 😂 )

Anyways when practicing economy-picked arpeggios, try breaking the movement down into a simple picking pattern.

Going down: index–middle–index–middle
Coming back up: index–index–index–middle, then restart.

It’s a small thing, but practicing it slowly and gradually pushing the tempo can really help with making those fast runs feel smoother, tighter, and more controlled. #Bass #basstechnique #raking #arpeggio taken in Texas by @semirozerkan

Just landed back in Texas. 🇺🇸

The last few months have been absolutely breathtaking, and this is only the beginning.
Being part of this group of such wonderful, kind and talented people has been a pure joy. Somehow, we became a family so quicklyfrom movie nights and bakery walks to an absolutely insane amount of laughs, traveling the world together and sharing the stage every night.
After moving to the States and spending the last 16 years playing in so many different bands and working on so many different projects, I feel like, for the first time, I feel like I can completely be myself again.
And somehow, that happened while playing in my favorite band of all time.
I love every one of these guys and I already miss them like crazy.

Thank you to everyone who came out, sang with us, traveled with us, supported us and made these last few months so fucking special.
I hope you can feel the energy we feel on that stage, because there is something very special happening here.

And we’re only getting started.

Get ready for next year. 🖤🤘 #nevermore taken in Europe by @semirozerkan
