Fashion as Art was the main focus in my Paper Couture camp this summer. Students transformed coffee filters into paper couture masterpieces. They all did an amazing job and I’m so blown away! We were so lucky to have the amazing @jasonnaylor visit our school and lead an inspiring assembly to kick off a schoolwide art installation led by @artwithmissefti based on his OPN Heart series. The kids made beautiful hearts and big thanks to all our volunteers who put together this installation for the school art show. A special thank you to @artwithmrshibbs who created an Open Heart installation at her school last year and gave great guidance and support. This school year was an incredibly special one for @artpopnj with the most volunteer Art Docents we’ve ever had! Together @orangedreamzz_artworld, @everli.jewelry, and I created eight unique lesson plans inspired by our rotating Artpop collections, including Georgia O’Keeffe flowers from American Modernism (1910–1945), Lippan Art from India Artifacts, Talking Sticks + Sand Art from the Southwest Indigenous Artifacts, and Origami with Japan Artifacts for Multicultural Week. Students explored different art forms while experimenting with new materials and techniques. We’re so grateful to everyone who helped bring more art into our school community and make this program possible. I’ve been posting a lot about ARTPOP, and many of you have asked what it is. @artpopnj is a 65-year-old nonprofit bringing arts enrichment to schools across Bergen County. I’m so proud to share what our young artists have been creating 🤗 Grateful to be a School Rep with @orangedreamzz_artworld and @everli.jewelry while serving on the board.
