I’ve spent the last few days reflecting on this election and feeling incredibly grateful for the chance to continue serving our campus community.

Out of 36 candidates running for Undergraduate Senator At-Large, I was fortunate to finish in the top three. More than anything, I’m thankful to the students who took the time to vote, talk with me, share their perspectives, and engage in the process. Those conversations reminded me why student leadership matters in the first place.

The responsibility of representing others requires kindness, empathy, and a genuine effort to understand people whose experiences may be different from our own. The role of a senator is to listen first, learn from the community around them, and always keep students at the center of every decision.

I’m also deeply appreciative of everyone who stepped forward to run in this election. It takes courage to put yourself out there, and our campus benefits when people care enough to contribute their ideas and energy to improving the student experience.

To everyone who supported, encouraged, or simply believed in the importance of thoughtful and compassionate leadership—thank you. I’m honored by the opportunity to continue working toward a campus where every Wildcat feels heard, respected, and valued.

Such an incredible week! Honored and excited to step into the role of Senate Speaker Pro Tempore for the 87th UKSGA Senate!

I’m so proud of what we’re going to accomplish this year — big strides ahead for our organization! Thank you, SGA, for this opportunity!

Hi Wildcats!!!! 🤍🤍🩷🩷
Let me introduce (or re-introduce) myself!!

If we haven’t met yet — hi!!! I’m Kendra, I’m from Albany, KY, and I’m studying Public Health & Public Policy, with certificates in Social Change and Clinical Healthcare Administration.

I am so, so excited to share that I’m running for Senate again!! My first year in the Senate taught me more than I could have imagined about listening, advocating, and showing up for students. I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to continue this work.

Outside of the Senate, I stay deeply involved across campus as a member of Model UN, a social media chair for multiple student organizations, a media volunteer within UKSGA’s Senate, and a First-Generation Ambassador. Each of these roles has shaped how I lead, communicate, and advocate — and constantly reminds me why student voices matter.

Through my continued involvement with my colleges and campus organizations, my biggest goal is simple: to put students first, lead with love, and make sure every voice feels heard and valued.

Thank you endlessly for the encouragement, support, and kindness you’ve shown me; it truly means the world to me. I can’t wait to keep working together to build a better UK for YOU 💗💐

Over the past year, I’ve shared so many ideas and initiatives—but what matters most to me is the real change I’ve been able to help create within the role of senator. Serving you has been such an honor, and I’m incredibly grateful for the support of these amazing people and so many others who have stood beside me.

You matter.
Your wellbeing matters.
Your priorities, your safety, and your health matter.

You are more than books, classes, and deadlines. You are a human first. And it is more than okay to reach out when you’re not doing okay.

The University of Kentucky has resources in place to support you — and while more work absolutely needs to be done, I want to build on what already exists.

As we head into election week, here are tangible changes I am committed to advocating for as your student senator:

• Increasing funding for additional counselors to reduce wait times
• Creating clearer, centralized communication about mental health resources so students know exactly where to go
• Advocating for more mental health days built into the academic calendar
• Partnering with campus organizations to host consistent wellness events and stress-relief spaces during high-pressure times
• Pushing for stronger mental health training for student leaders, RAs, and faculty

Advocacy should lead to action. I am committed to pushing for real, measurable improvements that make it easier to access care and feel supported on this campus.

I promise to always advocate for you.

Happy Caturday, Wildcats! 🐾💙

If you’re anything like me, you’ve been counting down the days to voting because we are SO close!!! Polls open at 8AM THIS Monday and I couldn’t be more excited!!!!

As we near the end of this incredible journey, I just want to say thank you. It has been such an honor and privilege to run for this position. These past two months have been amazing — meeting so many of you, hearing your voices, and working to make tangible changes on your behalf!!!!

No matter the outcome, I will always be here to provide you with support, encouragement, and a sense of belonging during our time on this campus!!! 💌💌

You may have seen this on my story, but this is something that deserves a permanent place on my page — and on our campus. Black History Month matters, and it deserves to be fully celebrated at UK.

Our university is only at its best when every single voice is represented, valued, and uplifted. I’m so grateful for the incredible groups and individuals who do this work every single day — who show up fully as themselves and lead with courage, integrity, and purpose. I have so much confidence in the impact they’re making to build a better, more just community for all of us.

Get involved. Ask questions. Learn. Volunteer. Serve. Celebrate.

Our campus can only thrive when everyone feels safe, supported, healthy, and at home. That starts with leading with love — loving each other fairly, justly, and deeply — and honoring the voices and histories that for far too long went unrecognized and under-celebrated. 💌💌💌 by @senatorbertram
