For over a decade all you had to do was ask Henry if he wanted to play basketball and this first clip is the reaction you’d get, big time ball dribbling zoomies. Fast forward 10 years or so to the 2nd video and he’s still the best rebounder I know. Believe it or not (I can’t), that was just a couple of weeks before I noticed something wrong, in early March 2025. Fast forward another year and a half or so and things are a lot different, but we’re still at it in clip # 3, filmed today. Henry, basketball extraordinaire, still at it. Still at it! We have given up on the back legs and are focusing on the front. The back end just kinda floats there in the water while we work on keeping the front trained.

We get a fuller range of motion and the back legs to engage with the swimming. He only does 3-4 minutes of this but it seems to be what helps the most. He hates this part but the bribe of a full hot dog continues to make it worth it.

Headed home after crushing it at PT.

Things have not been so great lately. Henry’s condition has gone downhill quite a bit in just the last few weeks, as he is now struggling some to use his front legs even in his chair and is getting wobbly. We have mostly given up on the back legs at this point, but we are still doing what we can when we can and he is a happy boy. Fortunately hot dog bribes made all the difference for continued interest in participating in the physical therapy. Fair trade Henry, fair trade… by @senatorface

Back legs aren’t doing much these days but we still got out for an early morning walk before it got too hot. Henry has never tolerated the heat very well so these recent weather patterns have been tough on us. He caught me trying to sneak a photo of him which he hates, hence the dirty look. by @senatorface

Things have been kind of tough recently, but we are adapting and trying new things. Swimming in favor of walking, mini-ramps for tough wheel spots, and stylish new attire. #corgi #shadeoutdm by @senatorface

1) Henry shooting hoops with Pops. He’s a rebound king.

2) Henry’s quiet version of what we call “getting it out”.

3) DM is horrible and in the interest of not pretending everything is hunky-dory, here is a quick clip of what Henry moves like when he isn’t in his chair, completely dragging his back end (feat my other boy Pip). Henry is a big time tough guy though and does his damndest to not let it slow him down. Skip the swipe to this one if you think you’ll be sad and don’t wanna be. #shadeoutdm by @senatorface

1) Zoom zoom still zooming. 2) For years and years now, when we get to the end of our driveway I ask Henry if he wants to race to the door, to which he always obliges by cheating and getting a head start on me before I’ve even finished my sentence. by @senatorface

Henry’s 13th birthday today!!! My sweet little buddy boy is a teenager now. See how we spent some of it in these posts… 1) Trip to Petsmart to love on strangers and pick up some boney bones. 2) Trip to Petco, more people to meet and some more treats ‘n toys. 3) Henry spent some formative years in this Petco on walking trips, puppy training classes, and this now-kinda-sad-looking spot is where he used to romp around at the puppy play time they would host. 4) Wolfing down some of the finest filet mignon money can buy, and it took longer to sing Happy Birthday than it did for him to scarf it. by @senatorface
