This living legend served as the 13th Commander of US Special Operations Command where he oversaw SOF for the US (all of it). Retired Army General Bryan Fenton is not unlike most senior military leaders these days - he’s genuine, highly competent, and can flat out lead. He’s also got one heck of a tool watch collection! He’s pictured here (back in his 3-star days) deploying a late 80’s @rolex #submarinerdate (Ref. 16610). On a personal level, and I’m not being hyperbolic when I say this, Bryan is one of the most impressively-awesome people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. I’m glad he’s on our side!

My boy, @usnavy veteran and loyal DTG’er, @davidayermovies gives a nod to former DEVGRU operator and military working-dog handler @willcheeese with his selection of the Rolex Submariner (Ref. 14060) for James Belmont (Brad Pitt) in @heartofthebeast. The Sub is riding a green-and-red @ndcstraps fabric strap beside a Waltham wrist compass, echoing the field-built wrist setups worn by SOF for generations. Used, personal, and earned—the kind of watch that followed its owner home but never entirely left the mission.

In the film, Belmont and Odin confront a different operational environment, but the same truths remain: trust is built through repetition; loyalty is proven under pressure; and survival is rarely an individual act. The Ref. 14060 is perfect here because it endures. Its scratches become coordinates. Its faded bezel marks experience rather than age. Every revolution of its hands records another moment between a warrior, his dog, and the distance still left to cover. DTGs marking the here and now, stratifying the before and after.

Some watches tell time. Others carry it. In the cold, stripped of comfort and certainty, Belmont, his “Two-Liner,” and Odin remain #presentandready.

So, I took the Command Element and Tater Tot to Spider-Man: Brand New Day this past Friday. This is not a spoiler alert - The Punisher is in it. As soon as The Punisher entered the scene I noticed the watch he was rockin,’ and quickly confirmed it was the green bezel @sangin.instruments Neptune (SOF). And me being me, I turned left to the Command Element and said “The Punisher is wearing my watch!” She was stoked (of course). Then I turned to my right and told the Tater Tot. It was then I was promptly shhh’d by an almost 13-year-old (whatever). Nonetheless, it was pretty rad to do some Punisher watch-spotting!

Dr. DTG got in touch with @colton_hill0318b for more of the story behind the watch. Colton, a former active duty Marine and Green Beret, was on-set with his friend @jonnybernthal during the making of the movie. As it turns out, @marvel had two Neptune (SOF) watches on-set - it kept one for prosperity’s sake and gave the other to The Punisher himself, Jon Bernthal. Then, in class act fashion, Jon gifted the watch to his Devil Dog Green Beanie bud, Colton (Colton is rockin’ the Neptune (SOF) with its distinctive green bezel in the bottom right wrist check; and Colton pictured with Jon at the Spider-Man Brand New Day premier bottom left).

Absolutely epic! Many thanks to Colton for sharing that awesome story with us all! Right on, brother! #presentandready

45 Friday.

Old school or modern, the .45 ACP never goes out of style. Neither does a good watch.

Different eras, same philosophy. These have seen match time and wrist time. They’re tools meant to be shot and worn.

Buy what you like. Use what you own.

Three days. Two Rangers. One earned victory. 🇺🇸

Spc. Caleb Godbold and Sgt. Drew Schorsch—Team 49, 75th Ranger Regiment—raise their Staccatos after winning the 42nd annual David E. Grange Best Ranger Competition earlier this year at Fort Benning, Georgia, April 13, 2026. Very epic!

The unofficial “Army Olympics” pushes the Army’s toughest two-man teams through three grueling days of endurance, skill, and mental grit. Every movement matters. Every second counts. Fact!

And you know Dr. DTG had to make the call on a wrist check! (Note: wrist checks were performed on photographs from the competition that are not shown) Check out the @casio watches keeping the DTGs, Trijicon optics, and pair of Staccato P4Xs rounding out the kit. Serious tools in the hands—and on the wrists—of serious AmeriCANs! #presentandready

Eyes up. Drone out. Green Berets getting after it! Dr. DTG is here for it!

Featured here are Green Berets assigned to 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) launching a Skydio X10 at Joint Base Lewis-McChord @jblmwa, Washington, during training focused on gaining proficiency in deploying drones for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR). Take note of the green beanie on the left rockin’ an @omega Unit Seamaster Professional that looks to be riding a @watchesofespionage Five Eye Nylon Strap. I tell ya… 1st Group has some watch game!

Lightweight, portable ISR platforms give these green beanies a pretty rad tool to enhance their situational awareness of the operational environment! Another DTG spent preparing, getting better! 1st Group maintains highly lethal, rapidly deployable forces ready to execute the full spectrum of special operations across the Indo-Pacific. #presentandready

Featured here is an @usarmy Soldier from the 11th Airborne Division conduct aerial insertion training as part of a joint exercise conducted with the Japanese Ground Self Defense Force Soldiers (Orient Shield 26). The exercise brings back Dr. DTG’s memories of Command and General Staff College (where I earned my PowerPoint Ranger Tab) as it pressure-tested the reception, staging, onward-movement (RSOI), and overall integration of U.S. forces deploying, and demonstrated the U.S. resolve to support the security interests of allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific region. Right on!

Front-and-center on my man’s wrist is the @casiowatches_official @gshock_casio_official DW-5000R-1A. This rad G-Shock variant probably wasn’t picked up at the local PX (or Base Exchange for our non-Army types out there). This wrist tool brings back the original 1983 square back to the fight with a steel core; screw-lock case back, bio-based resin armor, and of course shock resistance and 200 meters of water resistance. No Bluetooth on this train (that makes all you SCIF-dwellers happy out there on the net).

This G-Shock revisits the origin story—rebuilt for the men and women that remain #presentandready

Dr. DTG is stoked to team up with my boy @rolex_explorer2 who keeps a low-profile due to serving as a Law Enforcement Counter-Sniper and Firefighter. Two jobs, one mission, the safety of the public. My fellow DTG’ers, that’s service!

My man is featured here rockin’ his @rolex Explorer II (Ref. 226570) while providing overwatch for [REDACTED]. This tank of a watch takes everything he dishes out and keeps on sweeping! And you’re spot-on if you’re thinking a firefighting sniper lives a hard-charging #useyourtools lifestyle. It’s been on his wrist 1.5 years (and counting) - that’s what’s up!

Practicality is key here: orange GMT hand for quick 24-hour time; optimized legibility; and an understated, yet slightly subtle flex. A true white dial tool for any job.

Here’s the best part… one day this Rollie, with a piece of dad in every movement, will be on his daughter’s wrist for more memories. #presentandready

Here’s the deal, DTG’ers, smartwatches, just like the @apple watch the acting Secretary of the Army is rockin’ here, can expose a wearer’s location, routines, relationships, and communications. The Department’s published geolocation guidance explicitly identifies smartwatches as “risks to personnel and operations.” For sensitive personnel, the greatest concern is often ordinary recording and sharing—not a sophisticated hack. The exposure risk depends on the model, watch operating system, permissions, connected services, and adversary access and sophistication.

Smartwatches present a number of OPSEC, counterintelligence, or surveillance risks: location and movement history; patterns of life; identification and associations; wireless detection; location-sharing access; communications exposure; personal profiling; and targeted compromise or capture. Several distinctions prevent overstating—or underestimating—the risk:

1) GPS receives satellite signals; it does not itself broadcast your position. Recording, uploading, location sharing, and transmitting radios create the exposure.

2) Smartwatches can record GPS workouts independently, and cellular models can communicate independently when service is available.

3) Airplane mode is not guaranteed radio silence. For example, Apple Watch keeps Bluetooth enabled by default in airplane mode.

4) Bluetooth is not a universally readable tracking beacon. For example, Apple encrypts watch–phone communications and rotates Bluetooth addresses to mitigate local tracking. These protections complicate surveillance, but do not eliminate the risk.

5) Third-party health data sharing and compromised endpoints create separate exposure pathways.

To be fair, smartphones present the same OPSEC, counterintelligence, and surveillance vulnerabilities. So, knowing the vulnerabilities and how to mitigate them to an acceptable risk for you and your team is key. Dr. DTG wants y’all to be safe out there in the internet-of-things operational environment! #presentandready

My fellow DTG’ers, putting airpower where it’s needed starts with highly-skilled operators and enablers on the ground. @usairforce Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTACs) and @usarmy Joint Fire Support Specialists teamed up with regional partners from the @uscentcom area of responsibility (AOR) for a JTAC Subject Matter Expert Exchange.

Shared knowledge. Hands-on reps. Stronger teams! All while my man here is rockin’ a rad @sangin.instruments Para Overlord (airborne cert required). They’re maintaining proficiency in Close Air Support (CAS), guidance on establishing dedicated CAS ranges, and instruction on employing unmanned aircraft systems in support of JTAC operations.

Here’s the deal, coordinating fires is equal parts communication, precision, and trust… exchanges like this set the conditions for partners to concurrently cultivate all three! Different uniforms. Shared purpose. Every DTG an opportunity to sharpen the skills that count when that call for CAS comes. Dr. DTG is here for it! #presentandready

Dr. DTG feels it’s time to give the microbrand-mod community some love, and nobody can showcase it better than a green beanie from 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) rockin’ a full custom by @rogue_watches (a rad mod I refer to as “The De Opresso Liber”). FWIW, 1st Group’s watch game has been strong as of late! Right on, boyz!

Here’s a DTG worth recording: August 6, 2026, at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. Green Berets assigned to 1st SFG(A) prepare to launch a Neros Archer FPV drone while sharing drone expertise with the 7th Infantry Division (Multi-Domain Command–Pacific).

For the Quiet Professionals of 1st SFG(A), readiness means being prepared to deploy rapidly and execute the full spectrum of special operations alongside its allies, partners, and the joint force throughout the Pacific AOR.

Tools evolve - missions demand adaptation. Answer the call and put in the work! #presentandready
