King @mo_kamel1966

Long before skateparks, social media clips, or even proper decks existed in Egypt — there was Mo.
It all started in 1976, in a quiet corner of France. A young Mo, visiting his grandmother, saw someone glide down a street on a piece of magic: a skateboard. He asked for one, and she got him his first board — a cheap plastic one from a toy store. That was it. The spark was lit.

At the time, Mo lived in the Emirates, but every visit to France meant more skating — bombing small hills near his grandmother’s house, figuring it all out by feel. As skateboarding evolved from plastic to fiberglass to oak, Mo rode every wave of change — all the way to the iconic maple 7-ply decks we know today.

In 1985, Mo came back to Egypt, bringing his board and passion with him. But skating here wasn’t easy. There were no shops, no scene, no support. If you wanted a board, you had two choices:
Find someone flying in from abroad and beg them to bring anything, or
Mail-order a board by sending money in an envelope to skate shops like ValSurf and pray something came back.

Waiting for a board took months. Choosing a brand, shape, or size? Not a chance. You skated whatever you got — and you loved it.

By the early ‘90s, the scene started growing. Mo remembers a wave of skaters rising up, and companies like Alamia stepping in to organize proper events. There was energy, momentum, and raw talent — even without infrastructure.

Now, decades later, Mo’s still here. Still skating. Still pushing the culture forward. He’s lived through every phase of skateboarding’s evolution, and he’s got the scars — and stories — to prove it.

Mo believes in the streets. He always has. But in a place like Egypt, he knows parks are essential. Not just for safety — but for helping kids grow, progress, and stay in it for the long run. He’s all for building, fixing, and even DIY-ing new features if that’s what it takes.

To Mo, skateboarding isn’t just a sport — it’s a survival tool. A way of life. And if you’ve ever stepped on a board in Egypt, whether you know it or not — you’re riding in the tracks he helped carve.
