More than three and a half years ago, I had one clear thought: I wanted to make a feature documentary about Ukraine, together with a foreign director.Almost six months ago, @ariamark and I had our very first meeting about this film 🎞️ Last month, we wrapped our main unit filming 🎥There’s still work ahead, but I want to pause here to share my deep gratitude to the whole team for being part of such an important and meaningful project. Nothing compares to this journey 🫶I’m proud and grateful that this film has given us the chance to explore life, our country, and different cultures, to meet incredible people and have conversations that truly matter.For me, this film is an opportunity to share a unique story that’s happening in Ukraine with the world. What you see in the final frame is only the last 10%.Before that:a city change, 72 hours’ notice, a full lighting plan, a new crew, one studio, four hours, and no room for confusion.My approach is simple: solve the client’s problem properly, regardless of the scale of the budget.Because I work as both director and cinematographer, I can make decisions about story, image, movement, light and execution very quickly — without adding more layers, delays or creative confusion to the process.That speed matters in pre-production.It matters on set.And it matters in post.It means the client gets a clearer process, faster decisions and a stronger final result — especially when the schedule is tight, the location changes, or the budget does not allow for a large production structure.I also work with my own camera package, which gives me flexibility. In the worst-case scenario, the camera is always with me. The image can still be captured. The shoot can still move forward.For me, the priority is always the team around the image — especially lighting. The camera is only a tool. What matters is taste, planning, communication and the ability to make the right decision under pressure.Modern compact cinema cameras like the Sony FX3 can cover a huge part of today’s production needs — from social content and commercial campaigns to cinema-style work. Hello! My name is Serafima and I’m a Producer. Much of my work is under NDA, maybe that’s why even my life-long friends don’t fully get what I do. So I want to share a bit about myself and how we can work together.I’ve spent my life in production: videos, photos, films. For the first time, I felt what it means when a city accepts you.It can happen in the most unexpected ways — in the respect between strangers, the quiet moments in public places, when it’s cold outside but warm inside, or even in an unexpected conversation with a young stripper who asked my name. I told her she wouldn’t remember it. She insisted, and it turned out she had a huge tattoo on her hand with my name. That’s insane 😅 most people haven’t even heard my name before! Ahahah.I’ve always admired the way Germans live. I think they know how to enjoy life. Maybe that’s why some of them say “life and work balance” instead of “work and life.”Thank you, Berlin✨🫶 by @serafimakutsenko
