Sept 10 was a MASSIVE night of openings to kick off art month here in NYC. Might I suggest a block heel

Art Month is like Christmas in September for artists and purveyors where you can find new artists exhibiting across the city with weekly openings from now through Oct 17. One must be everything everywhere all at once to experience it fully and I sure did try

These were some of my favorites last night across some boutique and international galleries across the heavy hitter neighborhoods down 22-24 St in Chelsea and off Walker in Tribeca:

If you’re searching for some color on what to expect prior to a possible trek to the UES, here’s a few reasons to make the visit to Sotheby’s at 945 Madison Ave before Sept. 7.

New York has been the launchpad for so many artists but often when we view artists from other countries — as our origins are such a large part of our identities — often times those origins become the artist identity entirely to the general public. Botero in New York takes a well-deserved closer look with its retrospective on the Colombian artist.

This hits especially close to home as a first gen Colombian-American living in New York. There’s a beautiful community frequenting @sothebys and it’s a special experience, completely free. I would recommend visiting over and over again.

LOOK AT US!!! look at our amazing community look at our first flagship HAUS OF SERÁ!

Did we print menus??? NO! Did we eat good and well??? YES! 👹🤌🏼❤️‍🔥 (shout out our celiac and auto immune stamps of approval that made our night)

@shootingrah accidentally cooked like 10 dishes when I decided on banchan but look at this spread (also humble brag I did chef up the salmon and tiramisu)

A lot didn’t go to plan if I’m being honest, but I think that’s the point of the mantra being the name. It was exactly what it was supposed to be, people enjoyed it probably because it wasn’t perfect (other than timing it was imperceptible but I KNOW) which I’m more and more a fan of bringing to the forefront of art and events every day.

Our first flagship event, Haus of Sera — closed out and sold out but most importantly really fucking fun and special 🤍

I started this to bring all the things that I care about into the same space in a way that I hope can impact people in a world of scrolling and trending that doesn’t prioritize a lasting feeling. I think art and artists are essential to that and they need to be protected and supported and I don’t think it should be intimidating to try something new and cool.

Our venue did that part very very well and while our following is small its mighty! We were nearly at (probably were with the tables) max capacity and I genuinely feel like every person who showed up could be friends, care about art, are creative, all in their own ways and to bring us together over a shared meal highlighting a different culture is all I wanted.

This event at this caliber would not be possible without @shootingrah helping capture the vision on the weekends slanging his camera for us and packing a punch in the kitchen to make a MASSIVE spread with us.

My friends are heaven sent, and @thefriendwhotakesphotos and others have been here since this was… a very different concept. Always for the community, but yeah okay MORE HIGHLIGHTS TO COME THANK YOU! THANK YOU ARTISTS GO SUPPORT THEM THANK YOU

Limited tickets remaining for a night that will feel like this clip ❤️‍🔥 lots of last minute additions coming in and only can accommodate a select amount of dinner/shinkicker ceramic tix!

Snag it while you can - if they sell out we’ll try our best to accommodate more but go ahead and get a 9:30 ticket for post dinner drinks and possibly a second service.

In just over 48 hours we’ll be plating on @shinkicker ceramics, showing @handsofalexis art on the walls and selling her prints & smalls, selecting the best little jigs with our dj @alexander.walen and having our market and party with our favorites.

Maybe not the most high production viral thing you’ll see today, but hopefully one of the more authentic ones.

60 Seconds, only a handful of cuts, just a minute of our community and all of our characters.

Two Colombians, two cuisines, two artists, S2 ❤️‍🔥🇨🇴

It’s been really fun getting the word out there, but this is why I made SeráSerá. You may not have known us before, but you might be taking a silversmithing class with Rebecca, or sharing your story with her for a custom piece of jewelry, you may have chatted with Amanda about how we fell into this with a love of food and art.

Ringing up pan de bonos and Colombian empanadas, my favorite food growing up in Miami that my mom bought every Sunday was extra special, especially with Hugo, who has also connected all three of us in one way or another.

This is a place where you find the artists and the people you’re meant to find, I like to think because there’s a level of care that attracts the energy that creates those sort of special daily miracles.

Hope you enjoyed the food/art/music (thanks to Selva), hope you enjoy some more on Thursday.

Now the secrets out and we’ve announced our venue for Thursday will be the beautiful indoor/outdoor space at 299 Rosa in Williamsburg (also known as Nightflower)!

@rosa_newyork operates with up and coming community organizers and artists (as we love spotlighting new artists we love them and the team similarly for their help and their ethos ❤️‍🔥)

We’ll be plating up a coursed dinner included in your tickets in their chef’s kitchen, for some on one-of-one limited collection @shinkicker ceramics you’ll be taking home with you, having artist chats with @acrossthestudio before and during the event, hosting our market and showcase of all of our artists, as well as introducing an extremely talented new to the scene but not new to this dj, @alexander.walen

WELL IT’S HAPPENING OUR FIRST S2 POP UP BEFORE HAUS OF SERÁ ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥🌶️💥

I’ll admit I’ve been nervous - this started out as an idea for a very small community event that has quickly turned into a team of cooks, artists, creative collaborators across fashion, ceramics, jewelry, fine art, and our neighbors at Selva are so special to me and it’s special to have had our first event here.

This wasn’t a part of the plan initially but it’s turning out beautifully and it’s always been a dream as a woman in arts (and SPAM lol) to make events that break the mold, are creative, and serve creatives and the people that seek them out.

Food, fashion, art, music marrying all of the mediums, a real New York melting pot. I’ll be announcing more surprises soon! Thank you to those who came out and let us feed you physically and spiritually hahaha
