Huge waves, fierce winds, and a delayed start turned a race in Spain into a battle against the elements. But Novi Sad triathlete Gajo Burić rose to the challenge and claimed gold in Marbella.

The race was part of Marbella’s 25th annual city triathlon and was dedicated to Dani Saborido, the former president of the organizing club and a prominent member of the local sporting community.

After a three-year break caused by unfavorable sea conditions, the competition returned, but the rough waters made the swimming leg particularly difficult. The challenges continued on the bike, where powerful winds threatened the competitors’ balance, and during the running leg, which featured demanding uphill sections.

That’s why Burić’s victory in Marbella was about more than finishing first. In conditions that tested every part of the race, it was a reminder that success often depends not only on physical strength, but also on the ability to stay composed, adapt, and keep moving forward when the odds turn against you. by @serbia.actually

Sometimes, the difference between a European title and second place comes down to just two centimeters.
Serbian paraglider Ivan Pavlov won silver at the 9th FAI European Paragliding Accuracy Landing Championship, while Serbia’s national team secured bronze in the team competition. The championship took place from October 2 to 10 in Uroi, Romania, bringing together 93 pilots from 21 countries.
Pavlov finished with the same score as Spain’s Víctor Rodríguez Santamarta, with both recording 22 centimeters. But in the decisive additional flight, the Spanish competitor landed two centimeters closer to the target, claiming the European title.
With an individual European silver medal and a team bronze, Serbia’s paragliders have shown they can compete among Europe’s best—in a sport where the smallest margin can make the biggest difference. by @serbia.actually

A world-famous dancer, a traditional Serbian kilim, and ćevapi with onions. It sounds like the setup for a joke, but it was part of Josephine Baker’s visit to Belgrade in April 1929.

Imagine hearing Louis Armstrong’s trumpet in Belgrade, exactly as an audience heard it more than six decades ago. No modern cover band, no recreated performance, no recording made in a studio years later. Just the original sound of a legendary musician playing in the Serbian capital in 1959. 🎺

What if artificial intelligence could detect a forest fire before it turns into a disaster?

Seven high school students from Serbia have turned that question into a technological solution, winning a silver medal for engineering innovation at the 2026 FIRST Global Robotics Challenge, held in South Korea.

Competing against 185 national teams, they presented a system combining solar-powered sensors, artificial intelligence, and autonomous drones equipped with thermal cameras to detect fire risks before they escalate.

Seven young minds. One idea with the potential to protect forests. And another international recognition of Serbian ingenuity, showing how the next generation can turn technology into a tool for protecting the world around us. by @serbia.actually

What if the next breakthrough in cancer treatment began with teaching the immune system to recognize its targets more effectively?

Scientists from Serbia and Italy are joining forces to develop an innovative biotechnology platform for preparing cancer vaccines based on dendritic cells, which play a key role in activating the immune response.

The EPIC project is being carried out by the Institute for the Application of Nuclear Energy (INEP) at the University of Belgrade and the Cellular Immunology Laboratory of the International Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) in Trieste.

By combining the expertise and resources of two countries, the collaboration aims to lay the groundwork for future innovations in cancer immunotherapy, bringing researchers one step closer to new ways of helping the immune system fight the disease. by @serbia.actually

They were ordered to hold the line. They charged when others might have retreated. They crossed battlefields, mountains and borders, fighting for six years through some of the bloodiest campaigns in Serbian history. Their name became a promise to the men fighting beside them: the Iron Regiment was coming.
