May is Mental Health Awareness month. When they asked me what I would be doing when I received my DD214, I told them I want nothing more than to use my degree and get out of my deep depression of no longer being a Soldier..a Jumpmaster..a Leader of Men and Women.. but search for a opportunity as a collegiate Coach. My Lord and Savior saved me, keeping my spouse as my backbone and placing the humans I NEEDED in my life. I may not be a full time Coach yet, but my passion and grind is igniting and those who know me know this is just the start if my basketball coaching career. Cheers to the 2023-2024 season. Started 13-0, finished 23-7 and reached the Region V tournament! So very grateful! Now back to scouting and prepping for 2024-2025. 🚨Looking to continue growing and building relationships this summer so I’m 📧 coaches 😁🚨 by @sergeant_coach_cass

A week to reflect..Never made excuses, never asked for a hand out or to be treated differently, burying my mother just days before my birthday has never been easy to live through, but every single human that takes time year after year to say a Happy Birthday and a few words to me when I know we all living our lives, means so much to me. Life is not easy, but when you pray, ASK God for strength, the knowledge, and the wisdom to endure and maintain to see you through to your blessings! We were told we over achieved, we not supposed to be here! You all accepted every challenge. Apache Ladies, it was our first season together, and you all took on the hard coaching, the demand to push your bodies in the weight room, managing your academics/study halls, film sessions and scout breakdowns, the toughness to keep going when our record was not what we wanted at the time after the toughest pre-season schedule in our conference! Continuous learning and evolving together, after a tough loss against undefeated and ranked MCC, and get back up the next day to beat a ranked Odessa team!
We started the New Year with no one but us believing we could compete in the Mighty RXIV and finished #2! Came into the tournament and was doubted again! Each of you proved something about yourself right, that you would NOT lay down, no matter how hard the coaching was, the fan’s intensity, or the competition in front of you! “A dream is worth nothing if left on the pillow every morning” Thank you to those who support me, the combat vet who didn’t play college ball. This weekend I was able to attend The USA Basketball Coaches Academy in my home city, Houston! What an amazing experience and event. I have been at the collegiate level for a couple of years now and those honest dialogues with some of the best to ever do it, is why I will continue to whatever it takes to be the best Assistant Coach to our staff that my feet our planted with. Thank you to all the coaches and students of the game who didn’t mind giving me some food for thought. Let’s keep developing and evolving the growth of our game. “Dark days are always brighter on the other side” I am thankful I get to everyday the Lord allows me to open my eyes! Flashback to an amazing Monday, my birthday.
