There may be no single aesthetic; rather, the constant is the questions we return to.

Who lives here?
How do they want to live?
What does the architecture ask for?
What can we learn from the setting?

Each house and each client provides a different set of answers, allowing a design language to emerge from the particulars rather than asking every project to conform to a recognizable formula.

From California to New York, Mexico to Hong Kong, the differences are very much the point.

In the living room, the directive was to conceive a room without hard edges, right down to what happens underfoot.

Working within a neutral palette of creams, oatmeal, and grays, @rosemaryhallgarten’s Flow rug layers bouclé and alpaca in an organic composition, introducing movement, texture, and a welcome jolt of pattern.

It’s not often that we get the chance to make the staircase the star of the show, but when we do, you better believe we’re going to have fun with it. // @kenhaydenphotography

Behind every finished Show House room is a very long to-do list and a very short timeline. It's equal parts creativity, logistics, and determination.

I was at a site meeting on Central Park South when I heard this loud squawking. I peer over the terrace partition to see this beautiful fledgling hawk, clearly in distress. I was so worried I contacted animal rescue. 2hrs later, poor guys is still out there. So I text @kemrichardson7 who suggested I call the @wildbirdfund. Wild Bird Fund contacted a Central Park ranger who showed up within 10 minutes. Thankfully he was ok, and was perched on the railing when Ranger Ariel arrived. I found out his name is Aladdin! @centralparknewyork @wildbirdfund @birdcentralparkig taken in Central Park South, NYC by @sergiomercadodesign

Grateful to @incollect for featuring Architectural Mirage, in Double Dipping on Design - a story celebrating this year’s remarkable mix of talent and imagination at Kips Bay Show House Palm Beach.

The Sunroom and Pool Deck were conceived as a surrealist-inspired environment shaped by movement, illusion, and shifting light. From the articulated wave ceiling to the Gio Ponti–inspired stone floor, the space explores how architecture, interiors, and atmosphere can come together to create a fully immersive experience.

Soft shadows stretch and linger as an articulated slatted wood ceiling drapes into the surrounding walls, creating a sense of illusion.

A breathtaking slatted ceiling that appears to drift with the light. There is stillness, and there is movement.

"I stopped in this space and took a breath. I was surrounded by intention: the angles in the stone floor juxtaposed with the soft folds in the drapery, whose rhythm echoed the mesmerizing ceiling."

“The sunroom and pool deck are meant to feel like a pause—a moment of stillness and wonder—where perception softens and the everyday fades into the background.”

Architectural Mirage explores the ‘fifth wall’ through sculptural form, where light and shadow continuously reshape the room.

Thank you @verandamag for featuring our Sunroom at the 2026 Kips Bay Decorator Show House Palm Beach.
