“Elevación”
114x162cm

¡Vamos a ver qué tal sale?!

I’m starting a new project I’ve been looking forward to: Elevation.
In these first stages, key decisions shape the work — the composition, the tension between diagonals, the proportion of the body against the landscape behind it, and the sense of movement.
Later will come the execution.
A journey into mystical painting.
Let’s see how it unfolds!

My intention was the sight of the vines twisting around the holm oak. The tramontana blew with unusual violence for the height of summer. The centuries-old tree seemed to contort beneath the foliage, which created a frantic dance of reflections tossed about by the gusts of wind. That day, a carob tree fell, blocking the path, and several heavy branches broke, leaving their traces scattered across the garden.

Pintar y vivir. Vivir y pintar. Así de sencillo.

Extracto de “El pincel pinta”.

A luxury I have within reach every day. I only need to rise early. To dwell, as the sage said, close to the earth. To live with whatever comes, to paint with whatever comes. To feel this moment, again and again. #Painting is part of life, and life is part of painting: inseparable. A blessed union. To live and to paint. That simple.

Excerpt from “The Brush Paints.”

—

These much-needed holidays in the Baix Empordà have led me, almost without realising it, to the subjects my grandfather used to paint: fields and trees. 🌳🌿

Solemn cypresses, holm oaks embraced by climbing vines, fig trees offering cool shade, and swarms of flies.

Vast skies, constantly crossed by the tireless flight of swallows 🕊️, carrying the same joyful commotion as children running out to play in the schoolyard.
