10,800 HOURS.

10,800 hours represents approximately the total instructional time a child should spend in school from Primary 1 through SS3. Yet, millions of Nigerian children lose valuable learning opportunities to disrupted schooling, inadequate infrastructure, displacement and limited access to learning resources.

This is a short clip from my presentation at the Future of Education in Nigeria Summit, organised by AREAi @areai4africa , where I introduced IMỤKÓYA — our innovation at Servelead Humanitarian Initiative @serveleadhumanitarian , putting 12 years of Mathematics, English, video lessons, assessments and AI literacy into a single device that works offline without INTERNET in alignment with the Federal Ministry of Education’s curriculum.

IMỤKÓYA is designed particularly for out-of-school children, children in underserved rural communities, displaced children, homeschoolers, children who require more attention and learners in government schools where access to quality teachers, learning resources and digital infrastructure remains limited.

I believe we must do more than document the learning crisis. We must build solutions that actively close the gaps.

IMỤKÓYA is our answer: helping children reclaim lost learning hours, catch up at their own pace and access learning opportunities that circumstances may have denied them.

Growth is happening, and we are making room for it.

The past week has been an exciting one for the Universities Outreach Initiative (UOI).

At the iVolunteer Africa Innovation Challenge organised by the Servelead Humanitarian Initiative, we had the opportunity to pitch our vision of connecting university students to meaningful projects where they can learn, grow, and gain practical experience.

Beyond the pitch, this experience has opened up an opportunity for mentorship and guidance as we work towards formalising the initiative. We are also actively exploring funding opportunities to support our next phase of growth.

For us, this is more than an opportunity to stand on a stage. It is a reminder that the vision we started with has room to grow, evolve, and reach more young people.

We are learning, building partnerships, strengthening our foundation, and preparing for what lies ahead.

UOI is growing, and we are excited about the possibilities ahead.

One vision. More possibilities. Greater impact.

I didn't win the grant, but I won something important. 🥹

I was sitting in a workshop at the iVolunteer Conference when the moderator announced an innovation challenge.

I didn't take it seriously at first. After all, what innovation have I made? I hadn't created an app to solve climate change.

Then she explained that the innovation did not have to be creating a whole new product, but it had to be something that promotes the SDGs, and we has a track record.

And it clicked.

I knew an idea that not only supports the SDGs but also teaches people how to contribute to the SDGs. And yes, we had a track record.

That idea was the Universities Outreach Initiative (UOI).

I got to work and prepared my pitch. I stood before a crowd and presented an idea that had lived in my mind forever.

I didn't win the grant.

But I won clarity.

For the longest time, UOI has been an idea in my head. A shadow. A silhouette I was too afraid to unravel. I knew what I wanted it to become, but putting it into words was difficult.

Preparing for this pitch made me explain UOI in one sentence. And honestly, that was huge for me.

It reminded me of the beauty of the vision and why I started in the first place.

I stood on a stage, faced a crowd, and expressed myself. I spoke about something I believe in, something I want to build, something bigger than me.

I didn't get the grant, but I left with something I desperately needed: clarity and a renewed belief in the vision.

And maybe that is the beauty of trying. Sometimes, you go looking for one thing and discover something else you needed even more.

UOI is still here. The vision is still alive. And we are just getting started. ❤️

📺 AIT NEWS COVERAGE: iVolunteer Africa Conference 2026 Wraps in Abuja

The iVolunteer Africa Conference 2026 has officially concluded, and AIT News carried it nationwide. Under the theme “Building Responsible Citizens for Community Impact and Democratic Participation,” young Africans gathered in Abuja with one clear focus: volunteer service, civic duty, and real democratic participation.

The room was powered by leaders who practice what they preach. Mr. Oyewole Joledo (Country Director, Social Good Fund Africa ) made the case for service-driven leadership. Mr. Hamzat Lawal (Founder, CODE) and Miss Princess Alugwe ( Director of Operations, Servelead Humanitarian Initiative) pressed for active citizenship and accountability. And it wasn’t just talk, they delivered tangible, actionable steps, not rhetoric. Their charge was direct: community impact starts with responsible citizens, not spectators. Other speakers also took the stage, each reinforcing the same call.

The mission is clear. Now step up and let your actions speak louder than any slogan.

A DEFINING MOMENT AT IVOLUNTEER AFRICA 2026. 🎤✨

Mrs. Hansatu Adegbite’s session was a profound highlight of the conference. As the National Consultant on Private Sector Partnerships for UN Women Nigeria, she brought immense expertise to the room.

She moved beyond theory, offering tangible career advice. She challenged young people to boldly put themselves out there, confidently reach out to professionals and network with mentors in their career field. She instilled a vital sense of self-belief, proving that career growth and true volunteerism require the courage to make the first move.

Her contribution reminded every young leader present that the capacity to drive change begins with personal empowerment.

On behalf of the Servelead Humanitarian Initiative, the organizers of the iVolunteer Africa Conference, and all the participants, we extend our utmost gratitude to Mrs. Hansatu Adegbite @hansatu_adegbite Her practical wisdom has permanently enriched this experience, leaving everyone profoundly inspired to lead with purpose and conviction.

A POWERFUL VOICE AND A VISION FOR ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP.

At the iVolunteer Africa Conference 2026, Mr. Ekenedilichukwu Emmanuel (Leadership Coach, Media Producer, and Public Speaker) delivered a powerful message that captured the true spirit of civic duty and the future we are determined to build.

He spoke on “Civic Education and Engagement: The Citizen as a System Builder.” The core of his message challenged us to rethink our role in society. It is about shifting from being passive spectators who only complain about broken systems, to becoming active architects who take ownership and build solutions together. True collective agency begins when we realize that the community we want doesn’t just happen, it is built by everyday citizens who decide to step up and act.

Thank you, Mr. Ekenedilichukwu, from all of us at ServeLead Humanitarian Initiative and the participants, for bringing such incredible energy and a vital perspective to the room. Your session reminded us that our future must be built with bold ideas and decisive action.

Civic education is not a spectator sport, and it is certainly not a one-man job. It is everybody’s business. We all have a role to play, and we must step up and be active right now.
