She wasn’t afraid of the depth.
She was afraid of who she’d be when she surfaced.

She is not drowning.
She is not hiding.
She is learning how to breathe
where they told her she couldn’t.

They call it quiet.
They call it too much.
They call it disappearing.
I call it the first time
she could finally hear herself.
She was just in the wrong water. 🤍
