happy MLK! how it started [3rd grade student govt] > how its going [75th gov cabinet]…the deepest gratitude to everyone for the congrats and for those who came to celebrate history w| me…the final slide is 🤯🥺…to be loved hits different…in the words of my big sis…VA we up! #onward #virginiaisforlovers #madeinvirginia #mlk

on sat abigail spanberger took the oath of office as the 75th gov of virginia…becoming the first woman to serve as the states chief exec in over 400 years…she was joined alongside ghazala hashmi as the first muslim x immigrant lg + jay jones as the first black ag x adam spanberger as the first first gentleman…and an equally as representative state legislature w| over 40+ women and presided by louise lucas as the first black woman to serve as senate president pro tempore + don scott as the first black man x returned citizen as speaker of the house + luke torian as the chair of the black caucus…this diversity extends nationally w| rep jenn mcclellan as the first black woman elected from the state to the us congress

on sun i had the sheer good fortune of being sworn-in as a member of the govs cabinet by cloe powell who is the first black woman to serve as virginias chief justice…taking the oath of office as chief diversity + equity + inclusion officer for the commonwealth of virginia w| my hand over my familys bible…gov spanbergers commitment to advancing impact through belonging is further evidenced by the level representation across her cabinet consisting of a record 5 members of the D9 + 1 HBCU grad…to include my appt as a black queer woman who identifies as an independent…and we thank the 100 black men elected during the reconstruction era from 1869-1890 and yvonne miller as the first black woman elected to the legisture in 1983

madam governor is truly committed to uniting for a future where all virginians have access to opportunity…to include the hardest-to-reach communities across the state and im honored to serve….this was mos def a MLK + J13 for the history books…so full circle and may the ancestors be pleased…onward always!

ok now its time to get to work on behalf of 8M+ virginians and back to #SEEK2026!✌🏽 by @seshajoi

“ur father was so important to the walls and fabric of this city….to be from such a small town…you know that quote about even the slightest thing we do can cause a ripple effect…like if you throw a pebble in the water…it can cause a tsunami on the other side of the ocean…well he had that kind of impactful presence that endured here and im sure well beyond…i hope that ur family can use this weekend to celebrate rather than mourn his life” [-anonymous]…i know that to be absent from the body is to be present w| the lord but ima miss ur cute old face so freakin much 🥹🥰…xoxo ur toot toot…*cues mr. wiggles catalog [link in bio] #longlivemrwiggles by @seshajoi

make my pops proud and vote like our lives depend on it…bc they quite literally do…happy election day folks! 🗳️🕊️ #vote #electionday #lovetrumpshate #virginiaisforlovers by @seshajoi

yesterday i met a young woman of color who was the daughter of immigrants in my personal capacity…she hadnt registered to vote and was indifferent on the ballot …so i shared what i did in my professional capacity…and that 1. her vote + voice + values mattered 2. even w|out her vote…team spanberger would still work day + night on behalf of her voice + values…bc she mattered

word on the curb is the black cab is trending on twitter …so now seems like a good time to share a photo of the full cabinet…some of the best + the brightest virginians who belong…we represent every corner + community across the commonwealth and its an honor to serve all virginians …onward good people and please #vote! 🗳️ #electionday by @seshajoi

our ancestors put alot on the line in pursuit of the three words flanked behind me…and as of 10.27…approx 1.25M virginians have made their voices heard thru early voting…visit elections.virginia.gov for more info on how to cast ur ballot 🗳️ #vote #electionday #virginiaisforvoters by @seshajoi
