As I delve deeper into crafting this year’s drop I’ve been having fun tapping back into a more stripped down version of last years ‘dancing until we’re dying’. cool to widdle a big dancy pop song down just to the core of its melody and emotion.

Another epic year at the movies. On the eve of the Oscar nominations let’s talk about 2025 cinema.

I watched a LOT of films this year, including 68 theatrical visits and a ton at home. My top 3 of the year are pretty interchangeable and I love them all equally with their incredible lead performances, astounding captivating scores, and endless rewatchability. Every movie in my top 10 I saw in theaters and all but one I have watched at least twice. Yes, I thought hard about this 😂

Outside of my top ten I have a list of 15 honorable mentions, some of which towards the top could easily be swapped into the top 10 with some time and a chance to rewatch. What were your favorite films of the year, which ones here haven’t you seen or loved?!

Favorites of 2025:

One Battle After Another
Sinners
Marty Supreme
Bugonia
The Long Walk
Bring Her Back
Die My Love
Sentimental Value
Weapons
The Assessment

Honorable Mentions:

Dust Bunny
Hamnet
Sorry, Baby
Companion
Caught Stealing
Friendship
F1
28 Years Later
Twinless
Roofman
No Other Choice
Mickey 17
The Life of Chuck
K Pop Demon Hunters
The Naked Gun by @sespool853

“dancing until we’re dying” - my new combo pack - not quite a single, not quite an EP - is streaming everywhere now.

this is the first time I’ve released more than one original song in a year since 2021’s “the moon is all there’s left to kill”. I love these two songs. they took awhile to be fully realized but they mean a lot and I hope they find you well! 🕺💀🖤 by @sespool853

happy five year anniversary to “before the fog covers me”! I still have a very fond spot in my heart for this project and it has some of my favorite songs I’ve written on it, including “lost waves crash”.

written partially before and mostly during the peak of the covid pandemic, this project has a certain vibe that’s hard to reproduce. a longing. a curiosity.

new stuff next week 💜 by @sespool853

2024 was a pretty great time for me at the cinemaaa. Here are my personal favorites. Some of them are fun repeat watches and some of them left a massive impact on one watch. Most of these I have watched twice, some more, some only once. I haven’t seen every movie that came out and I’m no critic so I stay away from the term “best” but these are my ten fav certified bangers (and a lotta honorable mentions, it’s basically a top 20 lol).

The Substance is my clear #1 and the others could be in any number of order depending on the day.

What were your favorites last year?

Favorite Movies 2024:

The Substance
Nosferatu
Longlegs
Challengers
Lisa Frankensetin
Anora
Civil War
Dune: Part Two
We Live in Time
I Saw the TV Glow

Honorable Mentions:

Strange Darling
Love Lies Bleeding
Terrifier 3
Smile 2
My Old Ass
Abigail
Late Night with the Devil
The First Omen
Didi
Snack Shack

2024 was definitely a mixed bag, but there were some really great moments. Maybe the most concerts in one year ever? Some amazing movies, albums, and memories! And lotsa coffee ❤️

The final stretch. I don’t know why I love xmas music as much as I do, but I do. Moreso than the ritual of gifts or the food or the films, there’s something about those songs and melodies that always conjure up the most deep rooted feelings. This year’s nod to the genre, “Up on the House Top” can be streamed anywhere you listen to music now ❤️
