For those that saw the most recent live show of Set Point, I have a new theme song for the intro and outro of the show, courtesy of @lb_53. All I got to say is, Larry cooked with making this track. I absolutely love it. And honestly, I was due for a new theme song for the showk (the other one lasted 355 episodes/over 6 years).

My postgame interview with Kaitlyn Herweg of @losalgirlsvb following the Griffins’ 3-set road win over Corona Del Mar. Herweg recently surpassed 1,500 digs and became the all-time dig leader at Los Alamitos, as she joins elite company such as Justine Wong-Orantes. Herweg did a great job in the win as she was flying all over the place trying to dig all of what the Sea Kings threw at her. Oh, and I should make note that Herweg got a kill tonight. Overall, Herweg is a program changer, as I asked her about what it was like to play with her older sister Kaia (who was at the match). Herweg and Los Alamitos will await Saturday’s CIF-SS playoff draw, as they will find out who they’ll play and when and where they’ll play at. Herweg and the Griffins are having an amazing season, as they went undefeated in league for a second straight season (not easy to do in the Sunset League), won a tournament and are playing some great volleyball as of late. Also, I had to ask Herweg what it was like to face off against her future @indianavb teammate Piper Coady a couple weeks ago when Los Alamitos played Newport Harbor, as Coady didn’t play in the first meeting due to injury. Herweg and Coady could face one another against in the playoffs as their teams are 4th and 5th in the most recent power rankings, but only time will tell.

My postgame interview with @caitlyn_rother of @losalgirlsvb following the Griffins’ 3-set road win against Corona Del Mar. I had 4 service aces for Rother in the win, as she’s been on a tear at the service line. I mentioned another match that she came up big in regarding her serving being against Newport Harbor in the second meeting, as her serving was one of the reasons why her team won that match. As for Rother as a setter, she and Royal Banducci do a great job of running the offense together in Los Alamitos’ 6-2 offense, getting players such as Tyleani Allen, Charlotte Hall and Grace Schroder involved. Rother and the Griffins will await who they play and when they play in the CIF-SS playoffs this Saturday, as there is the possibility that they can have a first-round bye. Regardless of where they end up, I think Los Alamitos will be a tough out for anyone that faces them. Also, I had to ask Rother why she committed to @gomocsvolleyball.

Here were the questions I asked @lbsuwvb players Pola Bujnarowska and Madi Maxwell and head coach Natalie Reagan following the Beach’s 3-set home loss to Cal Poly. It was a tough loss for the Beach, but they have plenty of conference season to go and will learn from this loss. A few positives (in my eyes) that the Beach had was that Maxwell had a double-double (21 assists and 10 digs) and Sidney Hamaker had 14 kills. Unfortunately, tonight just felt like “one of those matches,” but one thing that I liked and I didn’t record this was that Reagan took responsibility for the loss, though it’s tough to beat a good team like Cal Poly following a grueling win over a good UC Santa Barbara team the night before. The Beach is back at it on Thursday when it plays at Utah Valley. They also play at Sacramento State next Saturday as well, as they get both of the newcomers of the Big West on the road next week. Speaking of the Big West, I had to ask Reagan about the Big West and how it needs some more love. Long Beach State had a 10-match win streak is in the top 50 in RPI (though that might change after tonight) and Cal Poly had a Sweet 16 run last year in the NCAA Tournament and has played a gauntlet of a non conference schedule. Plus teams like UC Santa Barbara, CSUN, UC San Diego and UC Irvine are crawling with talented players that can lead their team to a victory on a nightly basis. On another note, I hope when the Beach travels to Utah Valley, they take some of this hot and scorching California weather with them. It’s going to be cold in Utah.

My postgame interview with @calpolyvolley coach @carolion5 following the Mustangs’ 3-set road win against Long Beach State. Walters is in her 7th season as head coach for the Mustangs, as she has her team all alone in first place in the Big West. After navigating through a tough non conference schedule, Walters and Cal Poly have found their groove and are looking to repeat last year‘s success, which included winning the Big West Conference Tournament and making it to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. They’ll look to continue their current success in conference play on Friday when they host CBU, a new team that’s in its first year in the Big West. Speaking of the Big West, I also asked Walters on what it means to host the Big West Conference Tournament, as this’ll mark the first year a team not named Long Beach State or UC Irvine will be hosting the conference tournament.

My postgame interview with @kendall.beshear and @emmafredrickk of @calpolyvolley following the Mustangs’ 3-set win on the road against Long Beach State. Frederick led the way with 15 kills while Beshear added 10 kills of her own. The 2 did a great job for the Mustangs, who hit .378 in the match. I mentioned the middles on Cal Poly as unsung heroes on Cal Poly, but someone else who I thought stepped up was Kayla Murdoch, who had 10 kills as well. And let’s not forget Alexis Haury, who set the offense and the liberos Elif Hurryet and Ella Scott. Overall, it was a great team win for the Mustangs, who are back in action Friday when they host CBU. I also appreciate the patience of Beshear and Frederick, as we kinda needed 3 takes to pretty much nail this. Though us getting the giggles when I called Frederick “E Fred” didn’t help matters, but I needed to think of some nickname for her since I gave Beshear “the Smiling Assassin.”

@charlottekelly_15, remember the name. She’s been having a night for @calpolyvolley, who takes set 2 from Long Beach State 25-17 for a 2-0 lead in the match. When you look at the Mustangs’ non conference schedule, it’s starting to pay off for them. Mustangs hitting .368 through 2 sets.

Alexis Haury with the up, @emmafredrickk with the pass and @kendall.beshear to finish it off for @calpolyvolley, who eventually takes set 1 from Long Beach State 25-12. I don’t know about you all, but last year’s Big West Conference tournament champs mean business.

Checking in at the LBS Financial Credit Union Pyramid on the campus of Long Beach State for tonight’s #NCAAWVB match between @lbsuwvb and @calpolyvolley. About 10 minutes until first serve as I’ll have your updates, highlights and maybe some postgame content. First place in the @bigwestsports is on the line in this match, as the Mustangs look stay undefeated while the Beach lions force a tie atop the standings. by @set_pointiesr

My postgame interview with @savi.dennis of @cdmgirlsvb following the Sea Kings’ 4-set win at home against Edison. I had Dennis down for 14 kills, as she continued her stellar senior season. I know I mentioned that Sophia Dajnowiec had 32 kills, but give credit to Dennis, she helps take a lot of pressure off Dajnowiec. Also, Dennis had a one armed dig that eventually kept a rally going which eventually led to Corona Del Mar getting the point, so give Dennis your flowers too. Dennis and the Sea Kings are back in action Thursday when they play rival Newport Harbor on the road in the second installment of Battle of the Bay. The Sailors won the first meeting, but something I did note is that Isabella Spinella has more matches under her belt than the first meeting (when she first played against Newport Harbor, that was her first match eligible). Regardless, it’s going to be a great match. Also, I made note that Corona Del Mar has clinched a spot in the CIF-SS playoffs, but what I didn’t make note of is that second place is still on the table for them if they win out and the Sailors lose out. But right now, the Sea Kings will enjoy the win tonight and prepare for their Back Bay rival.
