On this day in 1990, 28 year old Jesse W. Sharp of Ocoee, Tennessee wanted to begin a career in doing stunts. He decided that he wanted to kayak over Niagara Falls which was a lot higher and more dangerous than the waterfalls he had gone over back home in Tennessee. 10 years prior to this stunt, Jesse was 17 years old and he had tried to kayak over Niagara Falls but his parents stopped him. This time he wasn’t going to be denied and he decided to kayak over the most dangerous waterfall in North America without any safety gear. Sharp was so confident that he would survive that he parked his car in Artpark in Lewiston where he made dinner reservations for later that evening. At 1:45 on Wednesday June 5, 1990, Sharp raised his paddle over his head as he plunged over Niagara Falls. A little later his kayak which was dented on the front and his paddle were recovered. Unfortunately, Sharp was never seen again after going over Niagara Falls as his body never surfaced. Today it remains a mystery as to what happened to Jesse Sharp in his fatal plunge over Niagara Falls. No one knows where his body went. All that we know is that his body wasn’t recovered back in 1990 and that it will never be recovered. Rest in peace Jesse Sharp who was a brave and adventurous outdoorsman who took a big risk to further his career in stunting and who served for our country in the Army until his discharge in 1988. by @seth_ebel

Today marks the 160th anniversary of General Robert E. Lee’s surrender to General Grant at Appomattox Courthouse. It was a happy day for America on April 9, 1865 as the Civil War had come to an end. Sadly, the happiness was short lived as the reconstruction of America could never be started by the one man who could get it done because Lincoln was dead 6 days later by the hands of an assassin. by @seth_ebel

Happy Birthday to the greatest Wildlife Warrior and Conservationist to have ever lived. Steve Irwin has been a great mentor to me through his videos and Crocodile Hunter episodes in teaching me about wildlife.
