GO SEE MY SHOW @riohondoarts - MONDAY-THURSDAY, 11am-4pm /////////// TILL NOVEMBER 10 ////////////////////BREED P - 2024 - Plexiglass, paint, adhesive, heat, laser - 20x20x8 inches - The second in this scale and complexity. Been developing these techniques for at least a decade. It all starts with translucent sheets of plexiglass and there is no internal light source. In a time of excruciating overt visual human horrors it’s a great relief to make something functionally elusive and unapologetically lovely. by @sethkaufmanart

“In the United States, Mexican Coke or, informally, “Mexicoke”, refers to Coca-Cola produced in and imported from Mexico. The Mexican formula that is exported into the U.S. is sweetened with white sugar instead of the high-fructose corn syrup used in the American formula since the early 1980s.” Wikipedia

Many consider Coca-Cola made with cane sugar, served in a glass bottle, rather than cheep looking plastic bottles, to be the authentic American beverage product.

“The term “cocacolonization” emerged as a way to express concerns that the global presence of Coca-Cola, and similar American brands, was not only about commerce but also about the imposition of American cultural values and consumer preferences on other societies, potentially at the expense of local traditions and identities.” Wikipedia

In early 2025, shortly after the Coca-Cola Company produced and delivered to the White House, Commemorative, limited edition, 8-oz. glass bottles of Coke, honoring the inauguration of the 47th president, a viral video appeared on social media reporting that Coke had handed over a group of its undocumented workers to ICE. Though the video and claims were denied and supposedly proven false, the event led to massive international boycotts of Coca-Cola products.

Today the original Coke, in a classic glass bottle, is available in the US… as a premium imported product. by @sethkaufmanart

Thousands of Illegal fireworks in the distance casting shadows of neighborhood power lines and vegetation against a frosted glass window of our house. If your measure of patriotism is freaking out house pets while spending money you complain you don’t have enough of on expensive heart stopping explosives that gleefully depict the daily life of people ripped by war that we largely instigate and finace, celebrating a colonizer culture who fought to not be colonized only to become hellbent on perpetuating global dominance at any expense… well then, you did a really good job💥 by @sethkaufmanart

Found, not at all staged image. It didn’t appear to be any kind of political statement… worse, on the eve of Independence Day, I think someone replaced this worn out flag with a crisp new one which could be seen and heard flapping 40 feet away and simply hadn’t explored how to properly or respectfully dispose of this old one. With the least amount of effort, the protocols of disposing or destroying a flag can be found on line. This lack of basic inquiry is in itself an indication of the depth invested in what probably is being referred to as an expression of patriotism. by @sethkaufmanart

@ruthasawaofficial - Untitled (S.839, Mounted Paperfold of Columns of Alternating Black and White Parallelograms)
c. 1952 - Ink on paper - 20 1/8 x 13 x 1 1/8 in. - An Agamograph-like painting. Yaakov Agam is credited with developing zigzagged “polyphonic paintings” first shown in 1953 but these Asawa pieces, more formally, resemble a mix of Origami and the black, white and grey paintings by John McLaughlin. They were all innovating at the same time making me wonder if they shared influences and inspirations although Asawa’s pieces are less fruity than Agam and looser than the hard edge work of McLaughlin. @ Ruth Asawa Lanier Inc. in conjunction with @davidzwirner - @minnesotastreetproject by @sethkaufmanart
