The Exorcist III is still my favorite horror film.

It’s a horror film, yes. But it also feels like a meditation on despair, conscience, spiritual warfare, and the question of whether evil can finally be overcome. by @sethmetoyer

This sweet hoodie that @yourscarescore sent over will come in handy during the cooler Northern California nights. Give them a follow and download their ScareScore app. It measures fear while you watch horror films. How cool is that? by @sethmetoyer

THE BEAST! 💀🤘 This replica from MANDY (2018) is absolutely massive, heavy as hell, and sick AF. I got this months ago and still need to get it mounted in the studio, but damn... I love this thing.

Pizza Records x Broken Curfew Records. 🤘

There’s something deeply satisfying about seeing physical copies of music we’ve helped put into the world sitting in an actual independent record store.

Pizza Records is now carrying limited copies of:
• Pulpit Vomit — Hospital Lens
• Mangled Carpenter — Between Blood and Silence
• Shovelhead A.D. — Timeless Old
• Broken Curfew Records Sampler Vol. I

Independent bands. Independent labels. Independent record stores. That ecosystem is still important.

Huge thanks to Pizza Records for supporting heavy, extreme and underground music.

Available now while supplies last. by @sethmetoyer

🎬 TRAILER REACTION: DEVOUR

An all-girl heavy metal band. Vampires. Cannibals. A werewolf. A warlock. Practical creature effects. Heidi Shepherd from Butcher Babies.

Yeah…this one has our attention.

Seth Metoyer of More Horror reacts to the trailer for DEVOUR, the new supernatural horror film from director Scott B. Hansen, the filmmaker behind Bad Candy.

This looks like somebody threw old-school monster movies, occult horror, practical gore and a metal show into a blender and let the whole thing go completely feral. We're very much here for that energy.

The practical effects angle really grabbed us too, with creature work led by veteran FX artist Wayne Anderson and the OX FX team. Physical monsters, prosthetics, creature suits and actual on-set effects still bring a texture to horror that we love seeing.

DEVOUR stars KateLynn E. Newberry, Gus Langley, Alexandra Lucchesi, Chelsea LeSage, Gaven Wilde and Butcher Babies vocalist Heidi Shepherd.

Watch the reaction and let us know what you think.

Are you checking this one out?

DEVOUR arrives this October from Epic Pictures and Dread, with digital availability beginning October 13.

Follow us and @sethmetoyer for more horror, film, music and assorted strange things.

Stay Scary.

ONLYFANGS is the #5 movie this week on BloodStream TV. I served as associate producer on this film. Stream it now! BLOODSTREAMTV.COM

Reposted @bloodstreamtv This week’s Top 5 has a nice little split personality: brand-new indie horror, dangerous girlhood, vampire sleaze, one of the nastier Spanish thrillers in the library, and a full-blown cult cave adventure from Fred Olen Ray.

THE DEAD PLACE took the top spot this week, and it makes sense. It’s the kind of psychological horror that starts in a very human place — grief, bullying, isolation — and lets the supernatural creep in like an infection. David Howard Thornton and Bill Oberst Jr. give it some serious genre weight, but what makes the film stick is how much of the horror comes from a kid being pushed too far before anything demonic even shows up.

CUDDLY TOYS was right behind it, which we love to see. Kansas Bowling’s film has that rare thing where it feels playful and furious at the same time. It uses the language of exploitation cinema to talk about how unsafe girlhood can be, and it does it with this strange, deadpan, 16mm coolness that makes the whole thing feel like a film you found in the back room of a video store and immediately needed to show someone else.

ONLYFANGS brought the vampire chaos this week, because apparently BloodStream viewers enjoy their bloodsuckers with apps, business models, and terrible ideas. THE CORPSE OF ANNA FRITZ also made the list, and that one still has a real sting to it — a contained, deeply uncomfortable thriller about entitlement, cruelty, and how fast people reveal themselves when they think no one is watching.

And then there’s THE PHANTOM EMPIRE, which is exactly the kind of cult weirdness that makes a Top 5 list more fun. Jeffrey Combs, Sybil Danning, Robby the Robot, cave creatures, sci-fi pulp, and Fred Olen Ray holding the whole beautiful mess together. Sometimes horror should be upsetting. Sometimes it should feel like a late-night VHS dare.

This week’s Top 5:

1. THE DEAD PLACE
2. CUDDLY TOYS
3. ONLYFANGS
4. THE CORPSE OF ANNA FRITZ
5. THE PHANTOM EMPIRE
