Hi, I’m Philip Setthibut. 🇹🇭🇬🇧

I’m what we call in Thailand ลูกครึ่ง (luk khrueng) — half Thai, half English.

For the last two years, I’ve been working towards getting my Thai citizenship. Once that’s complete, my plan is to relocate to Thailand with my mum and start a completely new chapter of our lives.

Although I was born and raised in England, my family comes from Suphan Buri, in central Thailand. It’s not the Thailand you usually see on social media. There are no famous beaches, full-moon parties or crowds of tourists.

Instead, there are endless rice fields, quiet country roads, local markets, temples and small villages where life moves at a slower pace.

It’s where my family’s roots are - and the place where I feel most connected to my Thai heritage.

This page is my personal journey back to those roots.

I’ll be documenting everything along the way — learning Thai, discovering my culture, visiting temples, exploring villages, local food, hidden places, road trips, Thai amulets and what it’s really like preparing to build a new life in Thailand.

Once I have my Thai citizenship, I’ll be able to buy land and start a construction project with my mum. 🏡🇹🇭

I want to document the entire process — from finding the land, planning the project and building it, right through to seeing what we create together.

This isn’t just about moving to Thailand.

It’s about coming back to where my family came from, reconnecting with my roots, and building something with my mum that we can call home.
