⚠️Flash Warning⚠️ . This UV spider tattoo is 2+ years healed. I get asked about the safeness of UV ink all the time. After years of learning, and seeking out reliable sources for information (Harvard medical journal, MIT, etc). I’ve found that there’s risk in all types tattoos. No matter what type of ink, they all can potentially become carcinogenic over time. This is due to varying factors. Many popular tattoo inks contain known or suspected carcinogens, such as heavy metals (chromium, cadmium) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). These ingredients are found in the most popular, and widely used inks on the market currently. What does this mean? It means all tattoos (uv or not) run the same risk of potentially becoming cancerous over time. Factors include but are not limited too lifestyle, brand, and sun exposure can play a role. That being the case, roll the dice as you see fit! If all tattoos have this same risk potentially, YOLO - in my POV. Do what makes you happy. Only risk it for the biscuit… if you want too! taken in Downtown Phoenix by @sevastra2014
