🌱✨Meet me in 5✨🌱

Everyone should read the Lansdale book (In the Midst of Wars) because it’s written by the guy who basically invented CIA psychological warfare. Very interesting very informative (I’ve studied that man and his impact on the Philippines for almost five years now).

Not really a bookish post, but kinda! I made this presentation for a club I was in after reading "The United States of Cryptids" by @jwocker, and since it's finally below 70 here in Ohio I thought I would get the fall posts kicked off! I highly recommend reading the book, it was incredibly informative and super interesting 💖

What's your favorite cryptid? If you say Bigfoot...

Happy release day @mellrbright!!! Purrfectly Haunted is available on Kindle Unlimited and in paperback, so go snag it now!

Purrfectly Haunted tells the story of a duo of bemused ExorSquad teammates, James and Ewan, as they hunt down the ghosts of one of Edinburgh's most haunted places, Lynch Hostel, while trying really hard not to fall in love (and failing spectacularly).

The book features a soft giant x short king pairing, a clowder of uncanny cats, a very strange house, and a cast of pestering ghosts.

Thank you to @author.aknightley for providing me with the opportunity to ARC read the book!

Girl, you had me at killing pedophiles and rapists. Also, it's very funny to me that this whole thing happened in Michigan, and that Max is from the UP (as someone with family there). I love it when places I know are referenced in books.

I'm not really a darker romance sort of person, but I knew A. Knightley would deliver something unexpected and outside the mold. The Masked Man (shh, no spoilers) is SUCH a loser, I love it. I appreciate when alphas aren't the stereotypical smooth, suave dark romance leading men that they tend to be grouped into. He felt very human in that sense, where he's outwardly pretty cool and scary and stuff, but then you get to his POV and he's just an absolute loser (affectionately). Yes, I'm talking about when he falls off the trellis and has to YouTube how to patch drywall.

I also really like how Max isn't just a helpless victim. The rep in this book was very very well done, from the guilt to the lingering nausea of what could have happened. Just make sure you read the TWs beforehand.

This book was probably the funniest MM omegaverse I've ever read (not that I've read too many outside fanfic, cough cough). The MaskTok reference, Masked Man's orca shirt, Jeffrey the cat...if you like a good amount of humor in your dark romance, this is definitely for you. It was very well timed between the darker stuff, too, which is bonus points.

Also, the plot twist. Ohhhhhhh, the plot twist. I well and truly fell off the couch when it clicked. This is WILD and AMAZING and just WOW. The setup was fantastic and the execution was even better.

Now, about a [redacted] x [redacted] book two...

Thank you to @mellrbright for the opportunity to ARC read this book!

YAAAAAA EWANNNNNN!!!!! Ewan is without a doubt THE cutie patootie of all time. James is also fantastic, and I loved his POV chapters. Something about a dry, sarcastic, tattooed baddie that loves fiercely and unconditionally...hm...

Anyway, the plot! This was for sure up to the standard that the first three I've read set, with ghosts and ghouls and all kinds of shenanigans! Lana is a queen and an icon and I strive to be like her someday (cats included).

This book was more focused on the relationship between Ewan and James and the other characters than the other ones have been, and it's a really nice balance from the last one I read, Unalive on Air, where the romance was very much secondary to the mystery! There's still very much a mystery that happens, but it's much more character focused.

The plot twist??? Oh girl. I can't say much of anything because duh, spoilers, but the SCREAM I SCRUMPT. Read it, read it, read it!
