There is so much fabric in an Indian saree. This one feels like silk, but I’m pretty sure it’s not. But it’s still beautiful fabric and these three duster jackets turned out better than I imagined. Coming soon to @theshop.nextdoor and/or @houndstooth_secondhandboutique

I’ve been busy in my sewing room, trying to make as many things as I possibly can. I suddenly have multiple opportunities not just @theshop.nextdoor which is where you will find these beauties.
You might recognize the fabric if you’ve been following me. Sometime ago I found this gigantic tablecloth at a thrift store. It had so much potential. This is the last of it after making several other pieces similar to these. I do have a few scraps left and I have plans for them as well. Just because the fabric is so so cool.

I should’ve taken a photo of this very unusual shirt that I found somewhere along the way. The print and fabric is fabulous, but the design of the shirt was really bizarre with pointed cape thingy at the back.

Luckily that provided a lot of fabric for me I almost completely covered this jean jacket. I’m especially loving the lips on the lapel. I even saved the collar of the shirt and once I clean it up a little it’ll be included with the coat. Coming soon to @theshop.nextdoor

Recently, I found a bag of fringe in my stash. This was the biggest one. I immediately thought this would be great on the back of a jean jacket. Yesterday I pulled out a black denimjacket from my stash, opened it up across my table and the fringe fit perfect. Absolutely perfect. This happens often. 🤷🏽🤸🏼‍♂️

Then I thought the jacket needs something more than just the fringe. I wanted to do the cut outs like this, but I only had a rather boring black sparkly piece of lace. If you can imagine. I didn’t like it for this project so I went back in search in my stash. Believe me it’s big.

Before long I came up with this sheer shirt. I don’t know about you, but I think it’s perfect. Next thing you know, I’ve got a rather cool, funky, black denim jacket. Not sure what I’m doing with it yet but stay tuned.

Several years ago, I was gifted this beautiful piece of fabric. I hesitate calling it a tablecloth cause I’m not sure that’s what it was, although there was lace all the way around.
I decided that it needed to be a pretty curtain in my sewing room. That was in my old house 3 1/2 years ago. It came with me to the new place, but only today it went back on my sewing room window. Kind of lame that I didn’t do this sooner but whatever. I still love it and it’s pretty as anything. Except I noticed today that the flowers are sideways. Minor detail I still love it. by @sew.so.new
