We are excited to welcome Katie Burton as our program’s newest Assistant Coach!

Burton joins us after an accomplished collegiate playing career and a season on staff at the University of Detroit Mercy. As a coach, she gained valuable experience in player development, scouting, recruiting, film analysis, practice planning, and daily basketball operations, providing a strong foundation to step into her role here at Sewanee.

A native of Fishers, Indiana, Burton competed at the Division I level during her collegiate career, playing at St. John’s University and finishing her career at Detroit Mercy. Her experiences as both a student-athlete and coach have shaped her passion for mentorship and player development.

Burton was one of Indiana’s top high school players, earning Indiana All-Star honors and finishing her prep career as her school’s all-time leading scorer. She carried that competitive spirit into college and now into coaching, where she is eager to invest in the next generation of student-athletes.
