A new make to celebrate 🇨🇦 Thanksgiving. The weather has been absolutely wonderful so a button up blouse was a perfect choice for hosting family and friends.
I love a good leopard print and when it’s an original print-on-demand silk chiffon like this one it’s a win-win!
As you know I’m a classic button up girl and this pattern fabric combo it’s a perfect pairing.

It’s time to start your Christmas planning! My second embroidery pattern has launched. By combining traditional Redwork stitching combined with hand drawn designs I have created a bundle of 9 Fir Tree Forest patterns to help you create pillows, hoop designs and quilts. Inspired by the West Coast forest that borders my backyard these designs can be created with or without a sprinkling of snow.

Enjoy some Christmas slow stitching and create heirloom quality gifts this season.

I absolutely love a Jacobean print! Pairing all the earthy florals with my new fall jacket seemed like a perfect way to start a fall capsule wardrobe.

The Jacobean style dates back to the 17th-century. I think it’s fun that we can choose textiles with centuries of history and still feel current. Classic pants and classic styling.

I have been using this glorious tote constantly since the day I finished it!
It is the perfect size for a quick trip to the market, for running errands-any kind of daily trip really.
The textured leather makes it a great bag for transitioning into Spring, Summer and Fall. I know it will be perfect for travel as well… it’s durable, flexible and light weight.
This is my second hand-stitched bag from @solaceleather. It’s so fun to stitch everything together. Their instructional videos are so easy to follow and there are top quality supplies that come with every kit.
I highly recommend giving one of their bags a try!

I did a thing! I have always loved embroidery, especially as the days get shorter. There is nothing better than curling up and creating something by hand.

Introducing Autumn Meadow, my first embroidery Redwork-inspired pattern. Hand-drawn and designed by me it is now available on Etsy as a downloadable PDF.
The collection features one landscape design, 6 quilting blocks and instructions to create your own pillow collection.

Meet Nori!

It’s time for @fibremood Edition 40 and the Nori Jacket pattern release.

This is a great jacket with sophisticated details. The welt pockets extend right down to the hem, finishing them with decorative pocket flaps. The zip is concealed behind a placket, highlighting a slightly larger collar. The sleeves have a slightly curved seam giving Nori extra shape.
And there’s more…a yoke and double topstitching everywhere definitely ‘style up’ this fun rugged fall look.
There is a belted version, but I preferred the cleaner cropped jacket styling.

This is definitely a more technical sew. I took it slow, enjoying the process as well as the make itself. I think the fine wale corduroy is a versatile choice for fall.

Perhaps the first make in a fall capsule wardrobe? What makes are you planning for the shift in seasons? 🍁🍂🍁🍂

Sudoku Packing Method…
Did it work? 🧩🧵

After years of travel, I decided to try Sudoku packing for a 14 day Road Trip.

The idea is simple — 3 Tops, 3 Bottoms, 3 Layers -every piece works with others creating at least 27 outfits combinations!

Did it work??
The honest verdict- YES ✅

Using me-made pieces and double checking to make sure everything could be combined in different ways, I gave it a try.

Swipe through to see the outfits I wore and my final tally chart.
For this warm weather trip, every piece but one earned its suitcase space.

What would I change next time?

🧳Pack button ups as tops not layers. 1-patterned 2-solids is a perfect combo. They can be used on their own or as light layers. Choose short sleeves for hot weather.
🧳 Add a Cardi or zippered hoodie to the layers and bring another jacket or blazer.
🧳 Include 1 dark pair of pants, 1 light pair and 1 pair of jeans

Two Additions for hot weather:
🧳Bring 2 tank tops great for colour blocking, style variations and layering
🧳 Pack 2 pairs of shorts. 1 light 1 dark.
These additions really help and take up very little space.

❓My biggest takeaway❓
Packing fewer pieces doesn’t mean boring. It’s being more intentional about how those pieces work together and having fun finding combinations. There is something very satisfying about coming home knowing that almost everything you packed actually worked and you felt great on your trip!

Would I use the Sudoku method again?

Absolutely. 🧩✨

AND…. loved it so much I’m planning my fall wardrobe makes based on the same principal!

As part of our @sewover50 8th birthday celebrations this week we have been asked to share our favourite colour.
I’ve included one green here- I LOVE any kind of green really.
If I had to choose only one colour to wear for the rest of my life it would be green.
We find so many greens in nature and they feature strongly in every season. 💚🌲🌴☘️🌿🍃
