Low energy means handstitching new sewing labels👋🏻

I'm currently about to start sewing the adria jacket, but as my energy has been so low with my chronic illnesses and the transfer to fall, I have to take it slow and today I had to choose to not start the project yet, until my energy returns. But I did want to do something creative, sooooo, i made sewing labels with my name!

This has been on my to do list for a while: figure out a way to make my own sewing labels from scrap fabric and I think it's worked out really well!

Short on how I did it:
1. Use chalk or heat erasable pen to roughly draw the size of the label
2. Handstitch my name with 3 strands of DMC embroidery thread, i drew out my name with heat erasable pen to make it a little easier
3. Cut out the label with a 0.5 cm border around the chalk lines
4. Fold the 0.5 allowance to the back up until the chalk line to make neat edges that won't fray
5. Cut heat n bond to the size of the label, making sure it fully covers the folded parts, so they can't open anymore
6. iron heat n bond to back of label securing folded edges and embroidery
7. When attaching to garnment: peel off the paper film, iron label onto garnment, and top stitch along the border by hand or machine

All finished!!

I would say my sewing skills are to a point where, unless it's a very challenging fabric, all projects can go without too much drama, because I just get it. This playdate blouse however? One big drama. It took me 2 weeks at the sewing machine which for me, is extremely long for such a simple straight forward blouse. And i'm not sure what the issue was here, but e v e r y t h i n g went wrong. To the point where I was almost doubting whether I was not meant to finish this blouse for "other" reasons above me.

But I did finish, simply because I was in love with the way it fit me in try ons. So here we are! The playdate blouse by matchy matchy sewing club with A LOOOOOT of mistakes I hope don't show too much.

Made from a white textured cotton and I used a lace trim for the collar that I absolutely LOVE. The fabric and trim were bought at @rechtesteek in Haarlem!

I am super happy with the way it looks, but I do need to learn to step over my perfectionistic tendencies. How do you deal with projects that just are not perfect in your eyes?? #matchymatchy #playdateblouse #matchymatchysewingclub by @sewnbysascha

🌸my saturn sling by Graco Makes is here!!🌸🫶🏻

Took me a while to make this, as this is such a fun and complicated pattern. I'm pretty stoked with the result! As a chronic pain sufferer backpacks are a no go for me, but sometimes you still need a spacious bag, and I think I solved that problem with this bag!

This was a pretty expensive one to make notion & fabric wise as I really invested in quality materials, but I think it is also very worth it!

Details:
• Outer fabric is an upholstery/bag fabric from @bombthebrand fabrics in Amsterdam, for sure want to get other colors for future bag and accessory making! (Also a big store tip if you are ever in Amsterdam)
• Lining is a cotton from Merchant and Mills bought at @nicenaais
• All silver notions including cherry blossom zipper pulls (how amazing are those!!) from Zipper Zoo trough @vanschiestoffen. These details really make this bag amazing, the exact color match strap and zippers 🫶🏻
• cord used is simple paracord with silver cord ends!
• once again besides my own name label, another label bij @abelabel.be that gives me so much joy to put in fitting messages into my made items to cheer myself on

I also added in a key cord on the inside as that is my favourite thing to add into handbags to make it so much easier to find my keys

I can't wait to use this on fun days and especially for my big trip to Japan in early 2027, for which my goal is that I have my entire suitcase full of me makes🌸

My second Elsa dress is done! the Elsa dress by @silversagapatterns is one of my favourite dress patterns, officially now. I made it in this gorgeous embroidered navy cotton that feels so me! Very proud of how comfortable and cute this dress turned out! And the sleeves aee the best part for sure!!

Still sad I am not able to take better pictures yet, but the joy of creating such a beautiful dress is worth more and I want to share it!

Also used up my last @abelabel.be with cute dutch sayings! My favourite way to add something in a garment reminding me of the time I made it, this one is a reminder for the recovery I am still in atm. It says "beste beentje voor" which translates to you can do it, one step at a time (or literally: put your best leg first/forward)🫶🏻

Fabric was from @nicenaais a short while ago!

I made a size 52 but altered pretty much everything about the bodice in order to make it close fitting to my own chest, so I'm not sure it is true to the pattern anymore. #silversagapatterns #sizeinclusive #plussizesewing sizeinclusivesewing by @sewnbysascha

Finally got round to making the #juniperdress by @tiana_herring and I am already planning seconds because this pattern fits SO well on my curvy body and it is so comfortable

The making process was also a fun breeze and i'm very proud of the pattern matching I managed to do with a fabric so small in width as @fableism their fabrics. 🫶🏻

I made size "K" but could with a size smaller, to get a closer fit on the bodice by @sewnbysascha

Another Amelie blouse finished! This is for sure my favourite repeat pattern! It feels so boho and so me. Very very proud! @silversagapatterns #amélieblouse

Fabric is an indian blockprint from @ansje.stoffen.naailessen and it was a dream to sew with honestly, it irons so easily and it wears so flowy🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

And for the noticing eye, yes I am missing the buttons on my cuffs, I only had enough buttons for the front😭 so I had to handsew it close for now

It was time this dress got the spotlight it deserved! I'm a bad picture taker so this combo will have to do! I recently got to wear it for the first time and I LOVED it sm. This is the Elsa dress by @silversagapatterns in a gorgeous double gauze with floral print from @nicenaais ! Double bonus for how well the fabric vibe suits my tattoo🥺💗

@fibremood Astrid jacket!! This may be my longest project to date but it was such a fun project, a lot of new techiques! I could for sure have done with a size down, but otherwise I'm SUPER happy with this jacket! My first wearable jacket ever!!! One of my 2026 goals: complete! The fabric details: denim from my local fabric store @stoffenloods , lining from @blackbirdfabrics blackfriday sale!

New bag!! Another pattern by @sewingman_ ! I made this with a special occasion in mind which made the making process so much fun to think about. Turns out as I was making, I found out it's also the perfect shape to work as a dog bag! Win win! Super happy with the way this turned out!

Fabric is a canvas by @vanschiestoffen that I quilted with a puffy interfacing. Label is by @abel.strijkme ! by @sewnbysascha

One of my 2026 goals was to successfully sew a skirt that actually fit well and safe to say the #sunriseskort did it!! Also how insane this is my first fully self made outfit!!! So proud @jessilous_closet

For the fabric I used a seersucker I thrifted from vinted last summer!

My tiny poodle is always cold so making her a quilted jacket has been super high on my to sew list, and I now did it! I'm so proud of the fit of it too! Happy😌 #dogsewing #sewing #sewingfordogs by @sewnbysascha
